"We stayed at the Iveagh Garden Hotel for two nights in a Deluxe Townhouse room while visiting Dublin. We intentionally chose this hotel because we were evaluating it as a possible place for our wedding guests to stay in the future. There were definitely some positives. The bar was excellent and had a great atmosphere and breakfast was very good. The staff we encountered during the stay were friendly and welcoming.
The room itself was actually quite nice and well appointed. However, the location of the room created a major issue. Our room was down a series of stairs directly next to the street and sidewalk and the noise from people outside late at night came through extremely clearly. It often sounded as though people were standing right outside the window. In addition, people frequently smoked just outside the building and cigarette smoke regularly drifted into the room, leaving it smelling of smoke. For a room sold as a “Deluxe Townhouse,” this was disappointing and made it difficult to get a good night’s sleep.
After returning home, I emailed the hotel manager to share this feedback and was hoping for a response. Unfortunately, I never received a response, which was equally disappointing.
The hotel has a lot going for it: the bar, breakfast, and location are all great, but the room placement and lack of follow-up from management ultimately left us feeling let down. Avoid room 97 if possible!"
