We had two beautiful views- one of the sunrise over low hills and the other of the sunset over the water.
Our room was elegant- our bed comfortable- the spacious bathroom had excellent water pressure.
We wish we had been able to stay more then one night.
Unique cottages with great view. Couldn’t ask better for the suite we rented. Bathroom looks newly renovated. The only thing that could be changed are the sofa, and chairs. Very quiet area. The restaurant was closed(under renovations).
A really nice place to stay within Cape Breton. The rooms were spacious included a separate living area with couch, table, dining space. Well maintained. Considering the remote nature of the location The staff were kind enough to provide free water bottles. The location is beautiful, truly feels like far away from the city life.
Must avoid at any cost.. view is good but you can get at many other places at much cheaper rates.. it’s highly overpriced in the area.

We had a 2 night stay at the Sunset Island Resort. It has great potential but requires some TLC. Views were spectacular. Rooms were clean. Felt room rates were a little high for what you got for a room.

We had a good one night stay. The beach and ocean being so close was the best part. We were disappointed that the restaurant on site was closed. The condo was clean and comfortable but I would suggest a new mattress in the John Cabot number 22. You kind of roll into the centre.
Beautiful location!
We only stayed one night but we wished we stayed here at least two. It was a whole suite with a kitchenette and a separate bedroom. There is a nice porch with chairs to sit and enjoy the ocean and we loved the walk along the beach at sunset.
FYI: It looks like there used to be a restaurant and spa which are not there anymore.

Very nice looking bathroom, but I let the water run and run and never got hot water. It was lukewarm at best and cold tile floors, not a comfortable combination 😕

The worker in the office was pleasant and helpful but the cabin wasn’t very clean. It was a great place to have cabins. amazing view
We were on vacation in cape Breton this was our on the spot booking . One thing I must emphasize location , location !! . We saw beautiful sunset . Property is very outdated needs lot of work . There is damp smell when you walk in the property . TV needs to be replaced very old all the stations are already recorded , no live channels to watch .
This place was PERFECT for us. Lots of room. The rooms were well appointed - lots of small amenties that make life easier. Full kitchen. A separate room away from the bedroom. TVs were nice. Kitchen was well appointed. I'm struggling to find a negative. The only thing I can find is that the mattresses need a bit of an upgrade. They aren't great. And, yet, it's still a 5-star for us based on how well the place was appointed, the location and the comfort.
The waterfront views and location are the best things about this property. However, the unit is very dated and doesn’t match the price. The furnishings need updating, the A/C only worked by plugging it in or unplugging it, the Wi-Fi stopped working after the first day, and we had no hot water until maintenance reset the system. With some renovations and better maintenance, this could be a great place to stay.
Our visit started with a very rude and unwelcoming man in the office. He offered no words of greeting or welcome just asked how I wanted to pay. The property is run down and the restaurant which is non defunct sits there in a state of disrepair. The room was very dated and the carpet in the main room was filthy and had not been vacuumed.
In spite of a decent location with views of the ocean this resort is depressing and not worth the dollars it cost to stay there.
No housekeeping of any sort was offered
over a two night stay, such as replenishing basic items in the bathroom. The amenities binder had not been changed since the resort had been running a restaurant and spa and so still talked about the offer of fine dining.
This property may have been great in its day but no longer
We stayed for two nights with two teens and two dogs.
The property was conveniently located to explore the Cheticamp side of Cabot Trail. The views of the water were also beautiful.
The downside was the lack of air conditioning, the many dead (and live insects in the bathroom) and the price, which was quite high for what you get - no restaurant on site, no daily housekeeping, the aforementioned insects and subpar cleanliness.
The staff was very helpful, the property is dated but clean and everything is present.
We had to leave early because of power outage in NS.
We got a refund for that night.
Hint: a little bit of TLC would make it more enjoyable,
The views are spectacular!
View was outstanding. Room was spacious and in good shape.
The hot water was poor. No TV. Grass uncut. Coffee weak. One guy running the desk, probably overworked.
It seems they're minimizing expenses on above.
The place was nice and clean and the beach was just at the bottom of the hill …..just a short distance, but the sunsets were spectacular. I would definitely go back. Not much choice for restaurants near by, but Cheticamp was only 20 minutes away.
I don’t usually write reviews if my experience doesn’t exceed my expectation. And this stay was better than what I expected! The view from the room was dreamy and the furnitures were very well maintained. Got to take a much needed good night sleep on the comfy and clean king sized bed.
