    The Space:

    Prepare for days of cabin fun, including in ways you never thought were possible! This cabin, made with red cedar logs and geothermal heated floors, includes a 360-degree view of the natural scenic surroundings. Cherry Knoll is a private estate surrounded by 72 acres of rolling meadows, along with a natural pond fed by two aquifers and stocked with bluegill and trout for guests who bring fishing poles! Enjoy it all from four different swings, each set up perfectly to enjoy the view of the lake. The cabin is located near a bee farm with 500,000 bees, walking trails, bike riding paths, fishing spots, a golf driving range, and lots of nature-watching opportunities. Outdoor games are in abundance at this home - enjoy a giant Connect Four set, horseshoes, a bean bag toss, and more! The firepit and barbecue pit are likely to become the centers of activity during your stay. Indoors, central air-conditioning and a wood-burning stone fireplace allow for you to adjust the temperature to your own preferences. You'll enjoy cooking together in the open gourmet kitchen, complete with a double oven, granite country sink, and a wood stone pizza oven. Musically-inclined guests can play out a tune on the living room's baby grand piano, or enjoy streaming, cable, and high-speed WiFi. But the luxury details continue throughout the home, with a private washer/dryer and lots of board games to enjoy in the upstairs lounge. A high chair and age-appropriate books and games are also available for younger guests. Relax together on the home's two covered porches, overlooking a two-acre pond, where you can enjoy a stunning sunrise before the morning's yoga practice. You'll also have a well-equipped fitness room on the lower level. From the seasonal organic garden to the four tree swings, there's something here for everyone to enjoy! Things to Know Streaming TV services require guest accounts to access. Wood is provided for the wood-burning fireplace. The cellular service is spotty at Cherry Knoll, so a landline is available for use in case of an emergency. This property is managed by Vacasa Michigan LLC.

Immaculate Property and Delicious Garden

This place was great for our Fall retreat, with the expansive property there is something for everyone to enjoy. The kids enjoyed playing basketball, fishing in the lake, playing with the nice variety of toys and roasting s’mores at the fire pit. The adults enjoyed hiking the trails, watching wildlife, and sampling the garden with the peppers, greens and tomatoes they left for us to try. We put them to good use with fresh salads, garden salsa, and toppings for homemade pizza in the pizza oven, which was a hit. The trip to Cherry Knoll was a highlight of the Fall season. Wayne was especially helpful in showing us the features of the home and even came out to stake out the trails so we knew where to go. Our only complaint was that it wasn’t clear during the booking process that the master bedroom isn’t available. The Master Bathroom is available though, via a back staircase. The steam shower was especially hit. We will be back!

Beautiful House (But Issues)

The house is beautiful, and we met the owner, who is great. We had two issues, though. First, the Master Bedroom is not available. The owner uses it, so it is locked. The other three bedrooms are small. The bunk beds are not in a bedroom; they are in a hallway. We had difficulty finding a place for everyone to sleep, even though the house is gigantic. Second, working with Vacasa, the management company, was very difficult. The check-in time was 3:00 p.m., but I had an important Zoom call scheduled for 2:00 p.m., so I asked if I could check in early. The customer service representative said, "no." So, I asked to speak with a supervisor, who also said "no." I then asked to speak to someone higher, and I was declined. But, since I wasn't asking for a lot, I pressed. Finally, I was able to speak with the third higher-up. She was at least nice and understanding. She sent a message to the local manager, who reach out to me. "No problem" was her response, noting that the house was vacant, so it was available even two or three hours early. Vacasa is so bureaucratic and full of red tape that it won't let its customer service representatives contact the local manager to make a simple accommodation for a customer. And, trying to speak with someone senior was like pulling teeth. I do not intend on renting from any house managed by Vacasa again. In short, beautiful house, but it came with some issues.
