"Really disappointing stay. The room was unbearably hot from the moment we arrived, and despite using the fan provided and having the window open, so much so somebody could probably climb through, it made little to no difference. To make matters worse, the radiator in the bathroom appeared to be on full blast the entire time, with no obvious switch or way to turn it off. The heat made it incredibly uncomfortable and resulted in a very poor night’s sleep. We raised the issue with staff during our stay, but unfortunately nothing was done to resolve it beyond an apology and them saying “we did provide you with a fan”. Given the impact this had on our stay, it was disappointing that no compensation or meaningful attempt to improve the situation was offered. Just a mere “sorry”. On a positive note, the room was presented well, clean and had good amenities. Pub was also nice, ample parking too. However overall, the customer experience was poor and not what we expected. I stayed for my birthday and had to retreat home early the next day due to the lack of sleep so plans were unfortunately ruined."

"Arrived at the property after having booked through Expedia due to having a previous booking cancelled on our way to Berwick due to a broken bed. We were greeted by a lady saying that there was no booking, on showing her our confirmation email she still claimed that we couldn’t have possibly booked as she only takes bookings Saturday to Saturday. After arguing with her for several minutes , she agreed to letting us have a room( the exact room in the photo I had booked) but said we couldn’t have breakfast. After showing us to our room she then asked how we would be paying. I showed her the confirmation email again proving that we had paid for the night through the website. Her response was we couldn’t have and insisted that we were to pay again. We ended up leaving with no room , no money and nowhere to stay at 9pm on a Friday night."

The Tempus at Charlton Hall Estate

10/10 Excellent

"Fantastic venue with friendly colleagues. The only point for us was with breakfast. Very good quality produce, We didn't understand why any breakfast other than the full English, and one other item carried a surcharge. Surely an eggs benedict is cheaper to produce than the full English, but carried a £4 surcharge.Would strongly recommend s visit and we would stay again. The complimentary room upgrade was superb."

"It's a 25 minute walk from the train station or a 5 minute taxi ride. There's a beach outside with a playground for kids, cafes, and a lovely promenade. My room was clean and well stocked. The owner and staff were lovely."

The Queens Head Hotel Self Check In

"There was no staff on site. I may have misplaced instructions that were sent to me, but I was not prepared for such a deserted arrival. It worked out in the end and it was a convenient place from which to visit surrounding areas of interest."

The Castle Hotel

"Some of the positive reviews are likely from week-days. NEVER go here in the weekend. Your room is above the hotel's pub that makes your stay unbearable. It is not just people having a drink, but actively partying and shouting with a dj. This place should not be listed as a hotel. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. "
