"Unfortunately, the property did not meet reasonable cleanliness or maintenance standards. On arrival, the oven and hob were visibly dirty with grease and residue, and the kitchen overall did not appear to have been properly cleaned. There was no bin provided anywhere in the property, only loose bin bags left for guests to manage waste themselves. The bathroom showed visible mould around the shower area. "This was our first stay at Marriott Keele. Finding the hotel was not obvious and TomTom didn't take us to the door, so signage could be improved. However, the check in process was excellent and the room was very good. The only thing that was missing was complimentary bottles of water and a good selection of tea/coffee, biscuits. There was plenty of room in the carpark and a Starbucks on the ground floor; I suspect this may be the reason for the limited supply of coffee in the room? The breakfast was very good and overall, it's difficult to fault this hotel for the price paid. I would happily return and stay with Marriott Keele in future."

Macdonald Hill Valley Hotel, Golf and Spa

"Stayed in a golf view room which was ample size and with nice views of golf course, king bed was very comfortable. The only issues we had with room was there was a very noisy extractor fan or heating fan that was extremely noisy in the corridor (floor 3) that was quite annoying during the night. The tv was small and dated and remote didnt work . Another issue was there was a lot of dust on the tables and vanity units which obviously hadnt been cleaned in a while which was a bit off putting and the bath hadnt been cleaned properly so we didn’t use that! The swimming pool was decent size but the sauna was small and the steam room was not very hot. Meals at hotel are very expensive and overpriced for what you get so id recommend eating elsewhere. Its about 15-20 walk into whitchurch local pubs. Overall not bad hotel but a bit dated and need to improve the cleanliness in rooms as this lets the hotel down. Found the reception staff very friendly."

"Gorgeous property, entrance, bar, decorations in the communal spaces all lovely. However, what I would call top show. We stayed in a room within the old building, which to be honest could do with updating. Carpets a bit on the weary side, internal doors not the best, bathroom needs upgrading, old bath either shower over, small head etc. bathroom window did not have an opening. Given our dinner was delicious we were let down by the Breakfast which was average and not what was expected of such an establishment. Pastries soft, buffet breakfast was pretty tough, scrambled egg, never had worse in fact it could have been powdered. Swimming pool was great along with the sauna, steam room etc. Overall we had a lovely time but improvements can be made."
