The double room was clean & fresh but the 'standard' size double bed does not compare well with the more usual 'queen' size provided in hotels in this price range. The staff were brilliant ambassadors for the hotel - Maisie & Jenny in particular - always attentive, always happy to engage with guests, always thinking ahead to anticipate the needs of their guests. The hotel is set well back from the nearby road and there was absolutely no intrusive traffic, or any other, noise to disturb our visit. Parking was extensive and conveniently located.

Decor, cleanliness and amenities were exceptional. We couldn’t have asked for better accommodation. The surrounding areas were beautifully looked after and a major refurbishment was tastefully undertaken. A gem of a hotel.

Lovely setting with some great architecture. Friendly family run hotel but somewhat tired in places. Disappointed by the most bizarre room which had a full size stainless steel kitchen segregating a reasonably nice bedroom from the large but rather odd bathroom (which also housed the wardrobe). Had its own ‘orangery’ and small garden. Loads of blinds to close, some of which were broken and the orangery outer doors had no blinds. Open plan so couldn’t make it completely dark… luckily had my eye mask with me. Cheap laminate flooring meant it lacked coziness and people in the room above could easily be heard walking around, using the shower etc. Food choices on the Sunday to Tuesday menu somewhat limited - nice but not amazing. We’re early 60s and felt like we lowered the age range quite considerably!
