It's incredible that there are accommodations that are as clean and comfortable out in the middle of the desert. The ride getting their is fun in itself. The staff were exceptionally kind. They should invest in a good telescope. There isn't much to do at night, but training a telescope on a few planets would be fun for both kids and adults.
Extremely run down hotel and breakfast and dinner buffet is bland, joyless, poorly made food and mostly unappetising. Even the tomato slices and cucumbers tasted plasticky and had strange by-product smells (probably from poor storage). The room smells a bit like a public restroom or has a strong guttural smell, the wine selection is very poor - around €50 per bottle for €5-8 bottles in EU supermarkets. The hotel is in a stunning location and the staff are really, really nice and friendly. The staff saved the experience a bit I have to say. But even the best team cannot make up for the misses.
The hotel is very nice and the dunes are beautiful. However, you either need to have a full size 4 wheel drive car, or get the guide to take you in and out.
