This was truly an amazing place to stay, great views from the balcony for the Birgu candle festival. Close to the town centre and loads of options for food.

Amazing neighborhood to stay in — you really get the authentic Maltese vibes here. There are great food spots all around, and it’s only a 2-minute walk to the gondolas. Very easy to get to with taxis, and they can even pick you up right outside the place. The accommodation itself was good! The AC worked perfectly throughout our stay, and everything was clean. Since the building is limestone, you’ll notice some small chippings here and there, but that’s just part of the charm. The only minor issue was that the water in the shower and sink drained quite slowly. Other than that, can’t fault it!

Beautiful room in Birgu

Beautiful room & great place to stay. Annalise is so responsive and helpful for anything you might need. Everything was easy! Perfect location too for anyone visiting Malta, wanting peace & quiet, and history.

Perfekt location in Birgu. Beautiful house. The room with Maltese balcony was rather small but very pretty.

Some aspects are fabulous- but some aren’t. The building has been renovated to a high standard. The location in Birgu is perfect. It is also very quiet and on arrival our room was clean and tidy. But Casa Norte describes itself as a guesthouse, which it fundamentally is not. There is no representation on site at all from anyone who runs it. Payment had to be made via bank transfer which, when I selected ‘pay at hotel’ on Expedia, isn’t acceptable and could be subject to fraud. There are cameras everywhere which compensate for the lack of personal involvement by the owners. Our room wasn’t cleaned once during our 1 week stay. Nor were communal areas. The rubbish over flowed in our waste bins but it wasn’t collected and there was no information about what to do with it. A change of (IKEA) towels would have been subject to a €5 charge. There is a cheap waterproof mattress protector on the bed but nothing on top apart from a cheap fitted sheet which makes the bed sweaty. The pillows were disintegrating but again, that’s because they’re cheap ikea. There’s very limited storage in the room which means the ‘insta-friendly’ look is lost as soon as you unpack. There’s cutlery and glassware but no plates. All communication with the management was via text and the guest is expected to be proactive. I received no communication apart from chasers about payment and exiting the room at the end. Maintenance costs are being minimised at the expense of service. Disappointing.

Beautiful property, beautiful town

I stayed in Domingo at Casa Norte. The room was immaculately clean and tidy, and the beautiful Maltese balcony was a lovely feature. The room was very secure but also very easily accessed. Check in was a breeze and there is ample parking nearby. Birgu is a stunning town. It is perfectly clean and genuinely beautiful, with a sense of isolation from the rest of the island. The town walls keep out the cars and the crowds and provide the most peaceful stay. I felt like I was in another little world there. Probably the best looking neighbourhood in Malta, and a perfect property to stay in. The only one in note I would make is that some firmer pillows would be useful.

Sehr zu empfehlen

Casa Norte ist eine echt tolle Unterkunft im Herzen von Birgu/Vittoriosa, modern gestaltet und trotzdem typisch maltesisch. Es gibt drei Zimmer in dieser Unterkunft, und ich hatte das kleinste und hatte zu wenig Platz, um meine Kleidung aufzuhängen, vor allem nicht genug Kleiderbügel. Die Kontaktperson reagierte super schnell und ist sehr nett. Ich mag nur das Gefühl nicht, die ganze Zeit beobachtet zu werden. Ich stand einmal an der Dachterrassen-Tür, und mein Code funktionierte nicht; binnen Sekunden kam eine WhatsApp mit dem Türcode. Das war mir zu unheimlich. Aber sonst ist es bis jetzt die beste Unterkunft in Birgu/Vittoriosa. Das war jetzt meine sechste Reise nach Malta und mein fünfter Aufenthalt in Birgu. Ich würde da auch noch einmal ein größeres Zimmer versuchen. Sehr positiv ist, dass man keinen physischen Schlüssel bekommt, sondern alles über Türcodes geöffnet wird.
