Great location. Great space for families or group trips. Plenty of bathrooms. Kitchen is meant for entertaining. The teenagers enjoyed the basement/game room. Close to hiking, Asheville, and close access to a grocery store at the bottom of the mountain. Absolutely would stay again.
We just loved this home. About 15 minutes from downtown Black Mountain. Plenty of space. Mountain Decor was on point. View was breath taking with plenty of room for everyone to sit to enjoy the view. Road to home is on gravel. Need all wheel drive Vechicle. Yonder rental was very quick to respond to any questions. Very memorable family vacation!
Our extended family of 6 -- ages 15 through 80-- enjoyed our stay at this spacious, comfortable, well-appointed home. We spent hours on the beautiful deck just talking and enjoying the breeze and birdsong. The location is close enough to Asheville to get there easily but you definitely feel like you are away from it all in the mountains. We were eager to hike and enjoyed that there were numerous hikes close by (near Montreat) without having to drive a long distance to a trailhead. Black Mountain is itself a nice town. Overall a lovely stay. I highly recommend it.
We had a marvelous visit to Burnt Ridge, simply marvelous! Nestled in the woods, the house is beautifully decorated and well stocked. It was hard to pull us away from the house to tour the area. We spent the days hiking, visiting Black Mountain and Asheville, but reserved the evenings for cooking at home and enjoying the deck, stars and friendship. Oh, the owner and staff couldn't have been more helpful. Many thanks. We look forward to another visit!
Our accomodations at Burnt Ridge were awesome - beautiful views, lovely home and plenty of space for the five of us. Definitely read the pre-arrival information thoroughly as it is accurate in regards to what is provided and what isn't. The driveway is a steep, but once we got use to it, we were fine! Definitely recommend if you want a mountain top view!
The facilities were amazing. BUT The Roads and driveway were steep and needed to be mentioned in the listing. Construction was halted, but wet dirt roads are hazardous to ALL cars. Several places it should be listed(NO CARS) but only saw it in the house book instructions. And very sneaky... VRBO wouldn't even give the exact address til 24hours before check in. Not cool. Kinda felt like they didn't want us to get directions til the last minute. Trying to get 2 seniors up the driveway was horrible. There were a flight of stairs to the car parking lot. Than led down to the front door of the house. More than 15 steep steps. Packing the car was exhausting. Walking up 4 bags up the 15 stairs to the car parking area should be mentioned several places.
Do not hesitate to book this property! The home is warm and welcoming, and it is stocked with everything a guest needs to accommodate a big family, cook meals, etc. There is even a gas fireplace for those chilly days, making the home even more cozy. The views from this property are absolutely gorgeous! The property management was friendly and responded promptly to questions. Recommendation: If you are nervous driving on mountain roads, plan to arrive at the property during daylight, and remember to take the driveway to the right when you arrive. If you take the drive to the right, you will end up right in front of the front door of the property. :) Thanks for a wonderful stay!
Our stay was peaceful at this house. We were 10 friends and we spent most time away from home, but house was very comfortable, spacious and very clean. Night sky view of stars was amazing from the deck. Enough bathrooms, comfortable beds and bedding were provided. Yonder team was just a phone call away. Friendly support staff. One needs a 4 wheel drive to be at this property though, rough terrain and unpaved roads to reach at the house. yet House itself was very comfortable. Host has already mentioned about 4 wheel drive need so it was easy for us to manage. Grocery store Ingles is just 10 minutes away. Nice location. Much better houses in Black Mountain area then Asheville vicinity.
We stayed at Burnt Ridge Retreat for a family reunion. The house was perfect- clean, modern, and plenty of space for all of us! We loved the close proximity to Black Mountain, Asheville, and Lake Lure. We would definitely return!
House is beautiful and spacious. Everyone in our group loved it. The view from the deck is breath taking. I the road leading to the house if rough and needs all wheel drive to reach there, but totally worth it. We will definitely come back !
Our stay at the Burnt Ridge retreat was wonderful. The home was impeccably clean. It is nicely appointed and has a beautiful mountain view. It's quiet and well stocked with dishes, and unexpected extras like coffee filters, sugar, coffee, and cream. Our Honda Odyssey minivan was able to handle the roads just fine and that was full with six people (all 13 and above), two small dogs and all of our stuff! We loved it at Burnt Ridge and didn't want to leave!
This home is AMAZING!!! Everything listed and more!!! We loved every moment : )
Parents, kids, guests,…view was amazing! Kitchen and main floor are SO cozy and fabulous! Game room area gave use lots of things to do when home, and not out on the decks. So much room to spread out! One of my most favorite NC rentals I have stayed in so far. We book one every summer…we will be back! Thank you!!!
The house is wonderful! Modern and beautifully designed and equipped.
As the other reviews states, it’s a bit off the beaten path and the gravel roads to get to the property are somewhat bone-jarring. I little confusing getting there (took the wrong fork in the road) and super happy I did not check in at night. My suggestion is to plan on checking in during daylight and then no problem. Once you know where you’re going and get used to the gravel roads, 3-4 minutes to Rt 9 (paved) and 10-12 minutes to Black Mountain. A really great place for a relaxing hang out with family and friends. Just get your fro groceries in and then chill out with gorgeous Mountain View’s and wonderful outside spaces.
We loved our stay in Black Mountain. The house was fantastic, the kitchen had all the supplies we needed, there were games for the kids, and the bedrooms kept our whole family comfortable. Heat and cooling controls were easy, lights were labeled, and the WiFi worked really well across the whole house.
As other reviews mentioned, the dirt road and driveway can be a bit dicey, but all was fine in the end. One minor piece of advice: I actually don’t recommend using the provided driving directions — they are worded confusingly and we missed our turn off the twisty switchback main road because they told us to “continue straight” instead of exiting the main road and heading up the hill and dirt road. GPS and Google Maps handled it better!
First off. I never write reviews but this place was so great I am compelled to review. The location was better than imagined. We wanted a remote location due to COVID times but in general I’m not a person who likes to be off the beaten path. The house was in the mountains but only 10 minutes to Ingles a huge grocery store and cute little downtown Black Mountain! We had great BBQ At Phils BBQ. The house was beautiful (and I have high standards) it was fully decorated as a mountain house. There was plenty of space, everything needed was there. Yonder included a book telling where to go and hike. There’s a grill, fire pit, fire place. I can’t say enough about the views. They are indescribable and better than the photos. Beds were comfortable, great cooking kitchen, plenty of sleeping space. We are a family of 4, 2 boys 8 and 11. We also had my sisters family join for 2 days with a 2 year old and a newborn. The balcony was safe for toddlers.
We came for white water rafting and used French Broad adventures as our tour guides and they were great. We are vacation rental owners in Florida and we recognize quality in a vacation rental. We would love to come back again!
We had a great stay at the house. Per the other reviews, we were nervous about the road and the driveway, but we managed just fine in an SUV~ even though it rained. The house was beautiful, really nicely finished, and the views were incredible!
Beautiful home and deck. Drive to the property needs 4 wheel drive vehicle especially going up and down the driveway. Not for the faint hearted. Local town of Black Mountain was very nice with that small town fill.
We had a wonderful time at the property with friends reuniting and celebrating birthdays. The house was beautiful, clean and perfect for what we were looking for. We spent a lot on time on the beautiful deck with the beautiful view. We also loved the kitchen!
We love this house and rented it for the second time with our kids and grands. It’s beautifully decorated, well stocked kitchen, well supplied with basics throughout the house. My only complaint is the road leading up and the driveway are REALLY rough on your car. The house itself is amazing!
The view from the property: absolutely stunning!!! Burnt Ridge Retreat was gorgeous — the home and the surroundings. A peaceful and secluded getaway and the scenery could not have been more beautiful! The home was so comfortable and well appointed, and had everything we needed. The only thing I will say was a bit tough was navigating the driveway as others have said in reviews. It was very steep and definitely cannot be navigated without AWD. Our car was fine but the other car in our group was able to park at the top of the road to avoid the driveway. Other than that, our experience was amazing all around!
