"This place is a disgrace and certainly not a place a solo female traveller should stay in. Apart from isolation and security issues theres no phone in the bed room, no WiFi and I had no cell phone signal (ee). Alss there was no emergency contact. There's no food available even tho the web site shows a menu. The nearest supermarket is 5 miles away. And to cap it all I found a set of keys to my room clearly labeled with the no. on a window sill outside. I was the only resident and felt extremely vulnerable. Despite 3 emails ( via Hotels.com site I have had no response."

"The room was exceptional, just like the pictures. It felt like a luxury getaway and the Escapade team helped with some decorations for our celebrations, which I didn’t expect to happen! Lovely place for birthday or anniversary celebrations, amenities were great. Breakfast was good, great variety. Staff were really helpful and friendly."

"After an amazing party in the afternoon we were unable to check until after 4;pm by which time no room on the lower floor was given as an option. The room is in the annex and described as a 2 minute walk. But that's not true for older people who have issues with walking. Once in the room which was hot. No heating was visible: the automatic fan and light combination was awful. Additionally no WiFi available. At 3am a red/green light started flashing which turned out to be the TV; eventually we found the off switch. Breakfast was greatly anticipated but sadly did not meet a 4star standard I can't even describe the black pudding. This was a greatly anticipated visit. I will try and see if it's improved in 6 months time."

"We have just enjoyed a wonderful week's stay at Racing Retreat. The property is situated in a quiet area and it is only a short walk (perhaps 5-10 mins) into Towcester, where you will find a nice selection of shops and eating places. The property itself is warm, comfortable and is well appointed. There is a small garden and patio with furniture for sitting out if weather permits. The kitchen has everything you need if you are eating in, but if you fancy eating out, we would recommend Ten Hands or The Folly. Would definitely recommend Racing Retreat and wouldn't hesitate to visit again."
