The Aska Adventure Lodge is located in the sought after Aska Adventure area and is conveniently located less than five minutes from the quaint town of Blue Ridge, Georgia, the Toccoa River and Lake Blue Ridge. It is close to everything you'd want, but tucked away with all the privacy you'd expect from a mountain vacation retreat.
Aska is the Cherokee Native American word for "winter retreat," however, this cabin is perfect in every season. Hike right from the expansive wraparound porch, up the hill and connect with the Benton MacKaye Trail. Or, take advantage of the many popular area waterfalls and great tubing and canoeing activities.
Inside the home's professionally decorated and richly appointed great room, expansive glass windows are strategically positioned to overlook the breathtaking and panoramic Aska Adventure area mountains. Enjoy the sectional leather seating, dining for eight at the expansive dining table placed by the windows for even more expansive views. The large kitchen is completely stocked with all of the cooking and serving accoutrements one would need for a cozy or big group meal.
After a great day of fishing in the area's many cold water streams and rivers, you can retire to the appropriately-themed 'Trout Camp' master suite. Located upstairs, this beautiful room is filled with fine rustic decor and local artist paintings. It has its own private deck and an enormous king size white cedar log bed, loaded with pillows and throws and outfitted in luxurious 500 thread count sheets to ensure a comfortable and tranquil slumber. The private master bath is appointed with a double vanity, soaking tub, separate shower, and a romantic chandelier for perfect mood lighting. There is also an adjoining loft which offers a well stocked lending library making it a great retreat for a cozy read. This loft also offers a full-size futon that can be ideal for kids who might prefer to sleep in close proximity to their parents.
'The Cowgirl Hangout' is the second master suite theme that was designed to accommodate guests who like to stay up later and hibernate until late morning. It is specially decorated in a Western theme featuring a log-crafted king size bed, nightstands crafted from authentic Jack Daniels whiskey barrels and has an adjoining western themed bathroom to boot.
It wouldn't feel right to be in the North Georgia mountains without a bear or two in the third themed bedroom located off of the main floor. It has a plush, pillow-top queen size, wrought-iron bed, hand carved furnishings from local mountain artisans, a large walk-in closet, a lending library of its own and an adjoining, private bathroom.
Aska Adventure Lodge is the perfect place and setting to clear the mind and steal away on vacation with your friends or family. Here, overlooking the mountains and upward to the sky-blue heavens, take in the crisp, clean air that rejuvenates the spirit.

The stay and property were great. No complaints there. Clean, comfortable, and exactly as expected. I really couldn’t ask for more when it comes to the space itself. However, the booking process was a different story, and that is why I'm not giving this a five star review. This isn’t my first short term rental. I’ve stayed in many across the country and a few internationally, so I know the usual process. But I’ve never had to jump through so many hoops just to book a two night stay.First, I was required to sign an 18 page contract. Fine, I understand wanting to cover all bases legally. Then I had to upload a photo of my state ID, front and back. Again, understandable. But it didn’t stop there. After my credit card was already charged, I was sent to a facial recognition site where I had to turn my head left, right, and all around. Once again, I understand. You want to make sure I am who I say I am.The tipping point came when I was asked to provide a utility bill because my billing address didn’t match the address on my ID. I have two homes, which is not uncommon nowadays. At that point, I was ready to cancel the reservation. I called to explain the situation, and only then was I told the utility bill wouldn’t be necessary.By then, I had spent half a day just trying to finalize the booking and honestly, I didn’t even feel like staying anymore.Everything after that was fine, but because of the excessive steps required, I would not book with Escape to Blue Ridge.
We visited Blueridge during a pandemic and were a bit worried that our group of teens would be bored out of their mind due to the lack of activities, but we were wrong. The cabin was comfortable and pleasant to hang around in. We enjoyed the pool table and were able to enjoy nature at nearby hiking trails. The cabin was clean and beds were comfortable.
Upon arrival, the cabin was 45 degrees inside and we could not get the head to work. When we called Guest Services and they said all they could do was send a ticket to get maintenance to hopefully come look at it. They could not give us a time they would be here. With it quickly getting dark and having four small children we were trying to keep warm, we went to dinner. Guest Services continued to say they really couldn’t help us because it was “after hours.” The only useful person was Guest Services Manager—she called, was kind, and was able to relocate us to a different cabin. It all worked out in the end, however was very frustrating and inconveniencing upon arrival.
We just returned from Blue Ridge and the Aska adventure lodge was everything we were expecting and more. The porch was a wonderful retreat in the morning and the stone fire pit was a gathering spot for us each night. Kids loved the hot tub and
Pool table and especially the game room bedroom as it was super dark! The home was very comfortable and met our needs perfectly. There is also a screened in porch off the master bedroom that was a great spot for reading. Also, the blue hydrangeas outside were stunning! The landscaping is something to see here. Nicely done.
The overall stay was good. A few things I would suggest improving or communicating in the property description:1. The AC is restricted to 72-F or above (this alone will probably remove it from any future trip consideration)2. The bedding in the 3rd floor bedroom includes very thick mattress covers (plastic) which are uncomfortable 3. The TV instructions reference Dish Network as a way to watch, I don't think this is provided (i.e. college football on Saturday was not available)4. There is a nail that is sticking up on the 6th step going up the stairs to the 3rd floor
We travel to north Georgia at least twice per year and try and stay in a different cabin each time. Of all the cabins we have stayed at, this one had by far the best location. It's very close to Blue Ridge and extremely easy to find. The layout of the cabin is nice and offers nothing but privacy. The furniture was all very comfortable and the outdoor seating area was great. Now the unfortunate, the cabin is in DESPERATE need of a very DEEP cleaning. I don't mean the kind of cleaning you get between guests, I mean the good deep cleaning that should be done a lot more frequently than what's occurring. Underneath couches, between cushions, and oh my goodness the pack-n-play was simply gross. Lots of empty beer cans in the bushes, dirty grill, cobwebs, THICK dust on not easy to reach places. A handyman is also needed and should spend a couple of days making simple repairs. On the deck, there were several loose pegs on the railing that could be very dangerous if a child were to put their weight against them. This cabin would be an easy 5 stars had it not been for the cleanliness and maintenance issues.
We needed a little getaway weekend and are so happy we stayed at the Aska Adventure Cabin! It’s an absolutely beautiful home, perfectly nestled in the trees and gorgeous views and super close to downtown. We are definitely going to stay there again!!
