Close to home but far enough to leave worries behind. We checked out local breweries and all were delicious with great atmosphere. Dinner in Emmitsburg was divine and they even gave me a single red rose for Valentine's. We loved the history and charm, the property for walking, and we played some of the very old board games in the home. The owner was very responsive and helpful with navigating the snowy driveway and cleared a path to the door! We reccommend highly and will definitely return!
We came to visit Gettysburg and Amish Country and were excited to learn that while we had spent much time learning about the Civil War, Lee had actually come to visit the very house we stayed at and is detailed in a book located at the property called “A River to Cross”. Before we left we took a picture with our pup on “Lee’s rock” where he rested while the horses drank from a spring nearby and his troops had tea and recharged at the property. The property is very clean, located in a great in between to many destinations, and is a beautiful getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. I’d recommend to anyone looking for a historic getaway to the mountains. Thanks again for a fantastic stay, Michelle!
Great attention to detail to make this home as comfortable as possible for people, and dogs! Seamless check in and check out. Amazing piece of history with beautiful views.
We had a wonderful peaceful visit. Enjoyed visiting museums in Gettysburg and then returning to peace. Everything was well stocked, clean, and thoughtful.
Lovely and comfortable Christmas stay at this historic stone home. Essentials and extras were provided - for doggie as well! Beautiful sunrises - calm and peaceful. Great location and ease for local activities. Enjoyed the few days while they lasted!
Lovely and convenient location! Such a charming historic home full of character. Michelle was very responsive and gracious! Would definitely stay again.
We LOVED this farmhouse/cabin vacation rental! Absolutely charming and wonderful. Everything we could have needed was included. The property was a very easy drive to Liberty Resort and several delicious restaurants. Especially loved the small herd of deer who grazed near the two small spring ponds at sunset each night. We plan to visit again!!
My wife and I stayed at this beautiful and historic farmhouse for three nights. The house was clean, well-stocked and comfortable. We visited the battlefield in Gettysburg for two days and had a wonderful and educational trip. If you like a quiet, spacious, clean and comfortable place to stay, we highly recommend it.
The stay was amazing. The deck is great! Should have some bar top chairs and a higher table so you don’t have to look thru the rails to see the wildlife. Perfect history match for Gettysburg!
The kitchen was set as well as it could be considering the age of the home pet spaces were vary convenient and the outdoors spaces were perfect for the soundings
Spent a weekend at this farm. Lovely historical home. Maintains original features yet fully updated. Well stocked kitchen and bathroom. Beautiful property. Very well cared for; clean & neat. Highly recommend!
Very nice old farmhouse in a quiet and relaxing setting. Large grassy and wooded section to the front of the house that featured deer & turkeys. The house was cozy & comfortable & had everything we needed to relax after a day of sightseeing in Gettysburg.
The house is beautiful and very period appropriate for the historical area. The area out front is beautiful with two ponds. The balcony overlooking it is gorgeous. Well appointed and stocked. Comfortable and clean. I spoke with the owner/host prior to our visit about accessibility and she was up front about the narrow/steep steps but we were not aware that the only bath/shower was on the third/upper level. That was okay for us but not our friends. They had to find other accommodations. Also the floors are original and beautiful but be aware they are sloped in areas and not level. There was some laundry left in the washer and dryer. But overall our experience was great and we loved the home! I would suggest booking this home for a complete civil war era experience!
