We stayed for only one night, but this is one of our favorite hotels. First of all, we are family of 5 and stayed in the family room. It is more than enough to accommodate six people comfortably. The hotel is also extremely well maintained and very clean. It is directly across the street from a grocery store. Also the buffet breakfast was by far the nicest one we’ve had as we’ve driven the ring around Iceland. I could not recommend this hotel enough if you’re looking to spend a couple of days in...

We had a great stay at this beautiful house! It allowed to do a day trip to the Snaefellsnes peninsula which was lovely.
The house has tons of space (and a hot tub) and my family really enjoyed staying here.

The BEST experience we had during our stay. The northern lights were beyond incredible. This was exactly what we were hoping for and it did not disappoint.
The view was incredible.
Front desk gentleman was very welcoming.
Breakfast was great and in a quiet setting.
The Aurora Cabin was just an unforgettable experience!!!!

Such a wonderful pleasant stay. I had the opportunity to meet and chat with Anna, the spirited manager/owner of the well kept comfortable house, and it is clear that she has put her heart and soul into the place. It shows and delivers! Highly recommend staying here.

I’ve stayed here three times over the past 10 years. Most recently in October 2026. The property is very well maintained and looks the same as it did 10 years ago. If I am going to West Iceland I always stay at the Fossatun hotel. It’s also a great place to see the aurora.

Just wanted to say the staff here made our trip memorable. The breakfast was fantastic. Prior to arriving I let the staff know we would be arriving early due to a early flight and needed to freshen up due to me proposing. They made the accommodation. I asked while we were at dinner if they could do something special in the room and they did. The host at the restaurant was very suave with letting me know that everything in the room was ready. The restaurant was an absolute treasure and I will be...

Our stay at the Hilltop House at Hvammsvík Nature Resort was, quite simply, beyond words fantastic.
From the moment we followed the dirt road up the hill, we knew we had found someplace very special. Perched above the surrounding landscape, the house offers extraordinary, nearly 360-degree views of the mountains, water, sky and beautiful Icelandic countryside. It feels wonderfully private and peaceful.
The interior is every bit as impressive. My wife is a professional stylist working in...

A wonderful property. It's not a hotel, so if you're expecting something luxurious, this isn't it! The location is great, and the owners have developed cute walking trails about troll-related folklore. There's a shared kitchen available, and the bathrooms are in a building less than a minute walk from the pods. It's northern Europe, so the showers are communal. Natural hot tubs are open in the evening, and there's a decent (and relatively cheap!) restaurant on site with a sunroom for taking...

The cabin was a remote base to explore the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. It was clean and comfortable for our family of 4 including 2 teenage boys. The geothermal hot tub was a fun treat too. The hike to Eldborg Crater was a nice adventure with great views from the (steep) summit.

What a charming hotel! Lots of quirky decorations throughout the hotel and in rooms. The staff were absolutely lovely- happy to help with any and all questions. We had a loft room, which was small but more than sufficient, with a breathtaking view of the fjord. We made use of the two hot-spring fed hot tubs available to guests as well. Sitting and looking out over the mountains at sunset was a magical experience. Breakfast was generous and good!
