Departure: Aéroport Pôle Caraïbes (Les Abymes)
Take the airport exit and follow the signs for the N1 towards Basse-Terre.
Drive towards Baie-Mahault then Petit-Bourg, following the N1 straight on for about 20 minutes.
Cross Basse-Terre on the Route de la Traversée (D23)
After Petit-Bourg, you'll see a fork indicating Route de la Traversée / Parc National / Bouillante: take the D23.
Caution: this is a very beautiful but winding road, in the middle of the rainforest. Drive carefully, especially in wet weather.
Along the way, you'll pass:
Le saut de la Lézarde (possible hike),
Le Maison de la Forêt,
Col des Mamelles (highest point),
Then begin the descent to the Caribbean coast.
Arrival on the West Coast - Direction Bouillante
Once you have completed the Route de la Traversée, turn left at the junction with the N2 towards Bouillante / Basse-Terre.
Continue on the N2 for around 5 km, passing :
Malendure beach (on your right),
A little further on, a small Carrefour Market on the left.
About 1 km after the Carrefour Market, look for a small intersection with a Domaine des Cabanes Perchées sign.
Turn left (often a small uphill road).
Last few metres to your accommodation
Climb slowly up this narrow, steep road. Follow the signs for Domaine des Cabanes Perchées.
The entrance to the estate is on your right. Free parking is available on the estate. The bungalow is located in a peaceful, leafy setting.
Useful tips
A rental car is essential for getting to your accommodation and exploring the region.
The route de la Traversée is magnificent, but poorly lit at night: if possible, arrive during the day.
