Great hotel which is up and coming and the team were soo welcoming and polite. They were supportive of my needs and it was such a effortless stay and very relaxing. I will stay there again.
This is a clearly once good hotel in a central location in Bournemouth spoilt by a tital lack of any serious investment for around 40 years (when better off customers started holidaying abroad) meaning the bathrooms still date from the late 1970s and the lack of attention to detail is so widespread that my bedroom had no bedside light but only an overhead light while the 1970s cold tap on the bathroom sink would only turn on in the wrong direction.
Room door locking system was also old and worn out.
This could be a decent hotel if it was taken over and fully refurbished by a large national chain instead of the current cheese pairing owners.
The Mayfair offers rooms from single bed up, at great rates which include parking, no 'frills' - pool spa etc.
My single room was clean and adequate, walking distance from seafront and local amenities.
I had a misfortune which caused me to call short my stay overnight, reception was closed.
The following day Expedia and the Hotel dealt with the issue quickly and made a refund, which they were not obliged to under the conditions.
Don’t be fooled. There is no restaurant on-site. They offer no breakfast and according to the clerk there hasn’t been one operating for over a year, not even a bottle of water was available in the rooms. The dining options around are quite limited.
The room had spider webs in different places, then it wasn’t serviced or cleaned day after day.

Mum is in a wheelchair and the lift was so tiny wouldn't fit a wheelchair and someone pushing it. I would not class it as wheelchair friendly

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Expensive night for such an average room!
We had booked with a group to stay on a Saturday night after a Golden Wedding Anniversary party. The downstairs of the hotel was very nice but the rooms were very small and dated. Cleanliness was good and the food was lovely but £96 for that room was far too much!! We booked to stay on the Sunday night as well and only paid £53 for the same room!

Disliked: Cleanliness
stained bath, uncomfy pillow full of clumped up stuffing, no air coniditoning, uncomfy spring beds
We found a 5 inch black spider on the wall above the bed and took pictures. Absolutely disgusting. My wife and I complained. We asked for a refund for the remaining day because we didn't want to stay there any longer, of course. We were denied a refund but were offered another room, which we promptly refused. It completely ruined our weekend, as you can imagine. Be careful and good luck.
Although the staff were friendly and welcoming the room was generally poor. The mattress was poorly sprung and uncomfortable to sleep on. The shower/bath tap mixer wasn’t working properly and ran mostly with spurts of warm water. The bath and sink had no blogs so we were unable to even bath! This soiled our weekend away. The room was definitely no worth the money. I would not be able to recommend this hotel to any one in all good conscience!
