Nantahala RiverHouse riverfront w/great Fishing/Views/Hiking/Paddling/Campfires!

*Our 5 Star Reviews say it all! Unique 3 bedroom, 2 bath home with all linens, towels and cookware! Just bring your food & Beverages! Cleanliness always top priority - We sanitize all surfaces between guest stays! (There is realistically no way to keep a Hottub sanitary in a short term rental so we don’t offer a Hottub.)
**If our minimum stay doesn’t work for your schedule, Inquire with your schedule as we may be able to accommodate!
Dogs are welcome with limitations *see pet fee*.
**NOT toddler proof! *please do not let toddlers out of sight/reach!! (Our games/remote controls are NOT for toddlers!) *Please bring your toddler safe toys and keep ours out of their reach!) Thank You
Once you reserve we will have each other’s phone numbers for a conversation to discuss your pets and other details. We provide a full refund if you decide from our detailed information that it’s not the right fit for you or your group’s/pet’s vacation!
**Please call soon after your reservation.**
Sit in the great room with windows all around or out on the deck or down around our riverside fire pit to see beautiful upriver & downriver views & one of The Last authentic Great Smoky Steam Engines go by along with Nantahala River Whitewater Adventurers, Fly fisherman and abundant wildlife. The tranquility and peacefulness of the River House can't be beat for a relaxing stay.
**Uniquely "ON the river lodging!"**
The Nantahala River-Nationally known Trout fishing - Raft-Guided or on your own - THE river with the best population of native Rainbow & Browns along with great stock population - North Carolina state record Brown caught just up-River from the house! Cast right off the back deck! Whether you are visiting to go rafting, to explore shopping or great Flea Markets in the area, to hike in the great Smokies for Views or waterfalls, mountain bike the trails at Tsali, golfing or just want a getaway, this unique house can deliver and charm you. Pan ‘for your own Ruby’ Mine is just down the road, Horseback riding, zip line, high ropes course, wall climbing and Cherokee and Murphy Casinoe are all Nearby! Ice cream shop and BBQ stand are just steps away! (*Open Seasonly* - one review makes the assumption that ‘closed for the season’ meant health department closure???)
Nantahala Outdoor Center is just a mile down the road with a great restaurant overlooking the river, kids treeHouse/ropes challenge and world class outfitter store. Motorcycle "Mecca" - Tail Of The Dragon is nearby - Our house is on the renowned “moonshine loop” from Deals Gap. Covered parking for 2 cars or plenty of motorcycles! Whittier (next town) has 3 Golf courses! . **IMPORTANT notes: The house is 2 story and built on pylons (see the photos!) - so climbing stairs is a requirement and if you have never stayed at an elevated beach house be aware you can feel movement in any structure built on pylons. We offer week or monthly Discounts which are automatically calculated by your reservation request **Can’t stay The full minimum requirement - **message us - we may be able to accommodate! VRBO blocks phone numbers until after you reserve but you can reach us at area code (704)and prefix 488 & 2386. The RiverHouse is great for an ‘UNPLUGGED’ get away BUT, be aware -***The internet access is through YOUR OWN DEVICE only - great reception from Verizon for voice and data *but Some other cell carriers may have limited coverage in this area. (No T-Mobil but AT&T reception is fine.)
**NEITHER internet, nor cable TV reception are available in this area*. We have lots of videos available or bring your favorite movie on disk to watch on our 4 foot flatscreen TV. We highly recommend you print out directions and check-in information - reception in the mountains is spotty for all cell and GPS devises, Siri and your other guidance devises are unlikely to work as you are accustomed to! Mostly we hope you enjoy an 'unplugged' vacation - if you haven’t tried it in a while- give it a try- nothing beats it!!
We do require a current cellphone for security reasons, so *if you do not enter your phone number in your reservation request it will be delayed* until we have a phone contact to reach you. ***please note** no campers or tents allowed!
Our typical season is April through November - *winter rentals are only available for 3 months minimum rental.*
With the extra time required to sanitize all surfaces between guest stays we must strictly adhere to checkout by 10:00 am and normally cannot complete the cleaning prior to the 4:00 checkin time. Thanks for your understanding.

scary week
Up on arrival the place just look like a group of abandon buildings. (because all but this house are) The inside was not bad just not well kept. The property though was unusable. Down trees, brush and over growth was ridiculous. The deck was to the point of being dangerous to be on. The ice cream shop and barbecue restaurant that were on the property and next door were shutdown by the health department last May and were still not open. Overall it just gave you the movie Deliverance feeling. We even got to see some guys getting high behind the ice cream shop one night. We really need to do more research on the rentals before we ever do this again.

Location Location Location!!!
The perfect base camp to do so many wonderful things, or the perfect place to just chill and enjoy the beautiful Nantahala River. We had members of our party do both and everyone was happy. River House is comfortable and well stocked with everything you need. For a long weekend we packed in a lot. We booked a guided trout fishing expedition and rafting trip through Endless River Adventures. They were excellent! We hiked, fished, went horseback riding, took a scenic ride to Highlands and saw some beautiful waterfalls along the way. Watching the rafters and fishermen drift by was awesome entertainment! The ice cream shop and BBQ places on the property were a plus! We ate at Boots in Sylva for dinner one night which was great. Had tasty breakfast and lunch one day at River's End at the NOC. It was a wonderful long weekend and everyone in our party is already talking about going back! Thank you to our host Nolan who was very easy to communicate with and helpful with recommendations.

Amazing Cabin With Amazing Views
This was the best cabin we have stayed in when visiting North Carolina. The balcony hangs right over the Nantahala River. Steps away is an ice cream shop and BBQ shack. We fished the river, went rafting, hiking, had camp fires, and the kids played along river banks, all without driving far. The cabin is clean and has all that you need. Waking up to the sound of the river flowing by was great! We will be back again for sure.
