Our stay was so peaceful. The home was so clean and they thought of everything you would need. The town is the best.

The house is plenty big enough for an average family to have a great stay. 3 comfortable bedrooms, 2 baths well stocked with essentials, a full kitchen, firepit, 2 large porches with ample seating, all on a beautiful piece of property. Kara is very responsive. 10/10
This home was extremely clean and very homey! The host went way above any expectations we were hoping for. I wish we would’ve been able to stay longer but we will be back. We would recommend this place everyone!
This home had everything you needed. The hosts were very friendly and took a lot of time with my granddaughter with their deer retreat. Place was very homey and private.
The property was spectacular and the house wonderful. We loved meeting and feeding the deer. The owner thinks about everything to make your stay enjoyable, from the snacks left to the items for children. I had forgotten to oack toothpaste and to my surprise she provided some.
The house was perfect. The area is very quiet and peaceful. The owners were more than happy to answer any questions and to show us around the deer farm
Very nice. All had fun. Great toys for our 1 year old. Supplied a high chair and play pen. The fire pit was great. Loved seeing the ranch deer. We also had wild deer right in our yard.
Peaceful, relaxing stay in the wonderful mountains of West Virginia. An abundance of wildlife is o enjoy watching! Home with a real farmhouse feel. Very neat, clean and all the accommodations needed. Even fresh eggs and an amazing coffee bar.

This property was clean, maintained and had everything we needed. The owner provided a lot of little nice touches, with premade bags for smores, snacks, packaged toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. The area is beautiful and has lots of deer to watch. My family had plenty of room to gather and visit as we all came in from separate states to celebrate my recently passed Mother's life. This was a great property to stay at while in Buckhannon. The next time we are back in Buckhannon we would happily stay here again.
Super nice house and location. We enjoyed see all the beautiful deer. The owners do a fantastic job to ensure you are comfortable inside and outside, fresh eggs, treats and beautiful weather. Thanks so much, looking forward to another visit. PEACE
Myself, my sister, and our families had an amazing weekend stay. We were visiting our Grandmother in the area and this house was perfect for us. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The kids loved the toys in the one bedroom and claimed it as “their room”. The living room was large and allowed us all to gather together and also the kitchen table was a great gathering place to play games. We look forward to staying again.
You can't ask for a better place to stay. The home was spot less, and just beautiful inside and out. Very nicely appointed, and so many little touches from Kara that were so useful and thoughtful. My husband had a rather major health set back and we needed to push our trip back a few weeks. Kara allowed us to switch with no issues at all. She was so easy to work with. Kara is just a gracious host. We will definitely stay again.
The cabin was amazingly well stocked and comfortable. It was frigid for our Florida family and there were plenty of blankets. Our family loved meeting the deer and learning a little something about deer farming, 4H, and coal mining! Kara was a wealth of information and we had a lot of questions ;) Our family enjoyed hikes at Audra park with our dogs and s’mores at the fire pit. The only thing we encountered that could be updated was the water heater. As a family of 6 we had to coordinate showers/baths so we didn’t run out of hot water. My kids absolutely wanted to bathe “swim” in the master bath but there wasn’t enough hot water to fill it up. I’m sure with just a few people taking showers this wouldn’t be a problem.
Overall we enjoyed our short stay at Whitetail deer farm and had lots of great family time. It would be nice to stay again if we are traveling this way maybe in the summer or fall.
Whitetail Retreat exceeded our expectations. The owner was so kind and prompt in responding to any questions we had. The house was filled with lovely little touches that really just went above and beyond. As a celiac it was so fun to even find some gluten free snacks available in the snack cady they had sitting out. My boys loved making smores with the smore kits prepared for us and we all loved trying out new games from the game closet. What a treat to get to feed the deer during our stay. Our sons had a blast feeding and petting the deer and we loved learning more about deer farms. There were also some toys available in a tote. The kids loved getting to play with new toys. Heads up that quite a few of them do make noise in case anyone else's kids like to get up at 5:30am on vacation. We got smarter our second night and put those toys away until a more reasonable hour. Overall I highly recommend Whitetail Retreat to anyone looking to stay in the area.
Came here for a family “brothers” weekend- host is great about communicating and the house has all the amenities you need.
Would definitely stay again!
When we got to the house we were so shocked with how beautiful and comfortable the house and property were. The owners are very nice and easy to communicate with. There were 7 of us staying in the house and we all really enjoyed it. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the area. We got to feed the deer on the farm which was so cool and interesting! The house, property, and owners attention to detail within it make this house the perfect getaway.
We loved our stay at Kara's place! The house is pretty open/large and was clean. Kitchen was well stocked with everything you might need. The outdoor firepit was so lovely and they include everything you need - even smores! We were in the area to do some hiking/kayaking. We found flatwater kayaking within an hour drive and the hiking trail at Audra State Park was really lovely.
I would highly recommend this spot to anyone trying to spend some time away! Also, ask Kara to meet the deer - they are so sweet.
