"Now, THIS is a hotel. Unlike my last stay (at the Moxie in downtown NYC) the Strand does not skimp on the amenities. The room was spacious and fully equipped, the bed comfortable, the service excellent. The location across the river is both extremely close to the heart of Limerick while not being stuck in the middle of it. I would not recommend eating at The River (the in-hotel restaurant) though. My meals were mediocre at best. But that's my only quibble. "

More suited for one night stays to catch a flight or tourist buses visiting Clare. Breakfast buffet needs improvement. Good parking. Walkable to a few spots in Shannon. Not suited for long stays. "

"Very clean and beautiful on the inside. Room was very comfortable and clean. Just the layout is sprawling and on one floor - just gave me the feel sometimes of a retirement home. Really appreciate that the pool staff allowed my son and I to toss a ball back and forth in the pool. My son was disappointed in the "leisure centers" in Ireland. We knew you had to wear swim caps, but the pools are very blah workout style pools and that is all a kid can do (you can't use the jacuzzi, sauna, steam...
