"Safari Inn still has some of its original 1950s charm, notably the iconic neon sign, modest swimming pool, and quirkily laid out parking lot with palm trees. It's on a busy, noisy street, and sitting on the deck atop the porte-cochère puts the traveler rather on display. While the lobby reeks of chemicals and the on-site parking costs $25 per day, the basic room itself was tidy and clean. The boxy in-wall air-conditioning unit runs loud. The bathroom was stingy with bath towels, a few of which were fraying, and lacked souvenir mini shampoos and lotions—a card informs one must purchase those in the unpleasant lobby. Some of the stucco on the pool wall was flaking off, exposing black beneath. The place could use TLC but one assumes that would cost more than the management has deemed profitable."

"What a great property and area. There were many organized activities for both adults and children to keep them occupied at the property. The pool area was very nice. The hotel is minutes away from Universal Studios as well as many other sights to explore nearby. Our room was comfortable and modern with a retro flair. The bed was super comfortable. I will definately book this place again in the future"

"The bathroom was nice and clean and probably the best part of the hotel room. The bartender in the evening and the front desk lady in the evening were very friendly. My carpet in my room was not vacuumed and dirty. Also, I was told that there would be coffee at 7 AM, which is kind of late for folks traveling on business, however, when I went down at 7 AM, I was told that coffee was not available because the manager was not there yet and it was just a cook. I had to walk to the McDonald’s about 2 1/2 blocks down the road. Also, while I was there during my stay, I must’ve received a dozen text messages, asking me about how my stay was, and that they were there to help with anything, with some text messages coming in after 9 PM. Will not stay here again, especially when traveling for business."

"Frustrating Hotel that charges 50 dollars a day for parking, was charged $195. for 3 nights (and two full days). Incredibly frustrating. No free breakfast, breakfast was quite expensive. The hotel was quite old, renovations were going on. The rooms were just okay, not really worth the price we paid. The beds weren't bad, but it felt like we were nickle and dimed for every little thing. Welcome to California I guess. Would not stay here again. There was nothing indicating that we would have to pay that much money in parking."

"Loved the old Hollywood feel and all the photos furniture and paraphernalia. The downstairs Diner was convenient and reasonable as was the hotel. If I’m ever in Hollywood I would definitely stay here again."

"This property is not what it seems to be. The pictures aren’t accurate. If I knew what I was getting myself and my family into I would have choose a different place to stay. The hotel gave a creepy vibe, like it’s haunted or people died in. It had a horrible smell in the hall way, in our room and in the main entrance. There is no laundry room to do laundry, our key didn’t work to get into the pool. Parking was expensive. The only plus side was we were able to walk to universal studios in 15 mins but the walking too was sketchy. The workers were really helpful and nice though."
