"My experience at Motel 6 was extremely frustrating and unprofessional.
The first issue was the condition of the rooms. They smelled strongly of smoke, which made the stay uncomfortable. But the bigger problem was with the staff and how my reservation was handled.
I paid in advance for 7 nights, and during my 6th night, I returned to the hotel to find that all of my belongings had been removed from my room. The staff claimed I was supposed to check out that day and kept my $50 deposit, even though I had already paid for the full week and had also reserved another week in advance. My room key card was still working, which made the situation even more confusing.
When I spoke to the front desk clerk, she told me my belongings were in the laundry room and said I could go back to my room. I retrieved my things, returned to the room, and stayed the night.
The next day, after returning from work to pay for my next week, I was told that I had been kicked out and that I should not have stayed the night, claiming I had received a “free night.” I explained that the front desk employee had told me I could return to the room, but she later denied saying that and claimed she told me to leave, which was not true.
Even though I believed I had done nothing wrong, I paid for the “free” night anyway just to resolve the situation.
When I asked for my remaining belongings, I was told they couldn’t give them to me because they were locked in the laundry room and no one on the property had a key. I "
