Owner checked in before I checked in which was very nice. Room was spotless. The Inn was quiet during our visit. Living area had ice machine and water ‘machine’ which was convenient. I very much appreciated their efforts to be environmentally conscious!
Checking into the property was easy and straightforward. The rooms were nice and clean. Stayed on the second floor - took awhile to get hot water to the shower. Only thing that we did not like was my wife tried calling ahead to see if the room had a refrigerator, but when she called all she got was an automated answering system with prompts and was never able to get in touch with anyone to answer her question. We only stayed one night ate across the street and the food was nicely priced and very good. We would stay here again if we were back in the area.
Our thirst stay at Cambridge Inn on Main and it continues to be excellent -- easy access, secure parking, effective air conditioning and a very comfortable stay. We had some disruptive firework noise on July 4th but that wasn't the hotel's fault and would have happened anywhere. Overall a great stay, made even better by the fact that the Strictly Discs (record store) location a few doors down has finally opened.
Property owners were incredibly sweet and customer-focused. We felt well taken care of the entire stay! Shopping is within walking distance and amazing service and prices. Can't wait to stay again when on the area!
It’s a very nice place. Very cozy. The owner was very friendly. Super quiet and spacious. I plan to go back again soon. Thank you Tony B! Everything was perfect!
Cambridge is a delightful little town. People are very friendly. Nice variety of shops and restaurants. The Cambridge is a historical building with beautiful updated rooms while keeping the integrity of the building. Would definitely come back and stay again.
Beautiful 130 year old property and rooms are appropriate to the era. Room has a large bathroom, small fridge and even a small range. Very clean and right downtown.
The hotel is not staffed, but the manager gave good instructions for how to let ourselves in. The room was delightful and the bed was comfortable. The shower door leaked, unfortunately, but everything else about our stay was stellar.
Lovely vintage find! Close to Stoughton Opera House. Very clean, hosts are great communicators. Much attention yo the period decor. And VERY comfy bed/linens/towels.
Unique, charming and very clean Inn in Cambridge, Wisconsin. Easy drive to Madison. Owners are great to work with and super hands on. Tony (the owner) really cares about the property and is fun person to talk to. We enjoyed staying there for a long weekend and recommend Cambridge on Main to anyone who visits Madison or simply wants to stay in this lovely small town.
Cambridge Inn was an easy drive into Middleton for a retreat. Tony made sure I had access to the check-in process by going a few extra steps. Super quiet. I felt safe even when I was the only guest one of the nights. Antique atmosphere with modern amenities was a good relaxing mix.
This was our second time staying at the Cambridge Inn on Main, and our first time in the Munson Law suite, which was absolutely excellent. The suite was gorgeous and spacious, full of vintage details and beautiful furniture. The bathroom was fantastic, the bed (the suite has two bedrooms but we only used one) was super-comfortable, and everything about the space was well thought out. We will be back.
Great room with a B & B atmosphere without the hassle of breakfast. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about no owner on premises, but it worked out fine. Owner is reachable by phone and text. Anf the Inn and the area felt very safe. My room had no windows, which I also wasn't sure I'd like, but that turned out to be great, too. Very quiet. Like going on a victorian retreat. Room had a sitting area and everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Will definitely be back.
It felt safe and clean. Someone came in later after I was in bed. They did an amazing amount of walking around, and they must have been right above me. The ceiling creaking kept me awake until they settled down. I did get a very good nights sleep after that. I will probably try to get an upstairs room next timr
This is a self-check in accommodation. Following the instruction was easy, but we arrived when it was dark and the rear entrance is not marked very clearly. In the street light, the door doesn't appear blue, and the writing on the door says Law Office so at first was confusing. During the day it would not have been a problem. Our room was adorable, with antiques, a comfortable bed and very nice bathroom upgrade. It was also very quiet which is a plus for us light sleepers.
No one at the hotel to help check in and the doors were locked. It took three hours to check in and there was no cell service in the town to contact the owner. We had to ask a neighboring business to help. To top off all the room had no windows, that was not reveled when we booked... The tv was very small but, the room was clean and the bathroom was nice.
This is a touchless type of inn. Getting there was easy but road construction on the street in the back made getting into the parking lot difficult. The first night a barrier was placed across the entrance to the back lot and I could not see the first entrance until I got instructions from the owner.
The room was a great size with tall ceiling. The bed was comfortable and bathroom was nicely renovated.
However, in the bedroom the table and chairs were more of a tiled outdoors type and seats were hard. The sofa was beautiful looking but not comfortable with the seat had no spring or support. The TV did not have anything local since it was Roku … streaming which is great for vacation but I was there for business and wanted more local information.
It did take quite awhile for the water in bathroom to heat.
There is an issue with the front door. We were able to unlock using the key from the inside and then lock from the outside. However, locking from the inside did not work. Thankfully the back door had a keypad.
If you are there for a relaxing vacation, this is a really nice place since it’s very convenient to be able to walk around. For a business travelers, better to find lodging in a nearby location with more appropriate accommodation.
The Cambridge Inn on Main is a gorgeous property and clearly a labor of love for its owners. It's clean, convenient, well decorated and extremely peaceful. We stayed in the Cannonball Suite, and we appreciated the high ceilings, comfortable furnishings and books about the history of Cambridge. The bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in. We will return.
I have a couple of minor issues but they're matters of personal preference so I'll list them here but they haven't impacted my overall review score.
* Bathroom is lovely and spacious but could use more flat surfaces for toiletries, contact lens cases, etc.
* As I'm currently recovering from an injury, I would've appreciated some kind of handrail when exiting the (very nice) shower. Either that or fasten the towel rail to the wall more strongly!
* The Roku Smart TVs are a good solution but I, for one, like watching local live TV when I travel. I understand that running coax in a historic building isn't practical, but you might want to look into SiliconDust's HDHomerun boxes, which would allow you to transmit a cable or over-the-air antenna signal to a tuner app on each TV. You have great WiFi onsite and this would be an effective solution (if you consider this to be a real problem).
* Washer and dryer area on the upper level was a bit cluttered and detracted from the overall level of polish in the upstairs hallway. I don't know if fire codes would allow you to conceal that area with a curtain? Might help.
Room was beautiful, staff were wonderful. If you like historic this is the place for you. the owners have done a great job renovating the building it is very quaint. i wouldn't really recommend it in very cold weather, the floors are hardwood and there is tile on the floor in the bathroom, it never did warm up. but overall very nice place
