Special Note: Lighthouse Cabin features a second-story bedroom accessed by a breezeway through the master bedroom. This 300 sq. ft. sanctuary is equipped with a sink, microwave, full bathroom, king bed and its own private balcony affording tremendous elevated views of Palo Duro Canyon State Park. Children/parents and couples will surely be flipping a coin to see who gets to stay in it.

Mini Winter Vacation

The Lighthouse property provided our family a much needed break from the hustle and bustle! The views of the canyon were spectacular and it was beautiful seeing the sunrise every morning. The family enjoyed the 10 minute trip to Palo Duro Canyon. Simply a wonderful place to relax and get away for a bit.

Superb view!!! We stayed with our 2 fur babies and did not even sleep on the 1st floor. We opted for the upper room. The view from the deck with a cup of coffee in the morning....nothing more beautiful!!!

Stunning staycation down the road from Amarillo

I would return again and again for the breathtaking views of Palo Duro Canyon! Our family, in need of a weekend staycation from Amarillo, found the perfect retreat in this cabin. It had everything we needed and more. Each morning, the sunrise painted the canyon in warm hues, and we watched it unfold through the large picture window while making breakfast and sipping coffee. The rooms were incredibly spacious, and the guest house above the garage was a haven of its own, complete with a kitchenette, bathroom, and a private balcony offering a stunning overlook of the canyon. A perfect escape to recharge in nature’s beauty!

We had a great family mini vacay. Close proximity to Palo Duro. Quiet and serene. Grilled steaks in the outdoor grill. Had a small issue with jacuzzi jets but quickly had maintenance over and it was fixed quickly. The scenery was beautiful.

Amazing Views!

The Lighthouse and Doves Rest Management and staff were professional, very nice and great to work with. The Lighthouse itself is amazing! The views are incredible! The kitchen/living area is huge for plenty of room for everyone. The top story suite is .... SWEET! Gorgeous Views. We will stay again.

Dove’s Rest Cabins, THE LIGHTHOUSE is are simply lovely and welcome you with complimentary bubbly and fluted glasses gifted to guests! Unfortunately, we experienced an AC issue in Master bedroom that poured water from ceiling down walls. Thankfully, owner/ maiintenance did come out quickly, explaining it was a known issue & put a 5gal bucket under AC drip pan. Sadly, the issue returned the night before our checkout. Water on the floors and walls most of our stay was embarrassing with our invited friends. But they apparently fixed after we left. Not explained well in listing, this home includes TWO full bedrooms (no pics of 2nd), 2.5 Baths, and a sleeper sofa in living room. Second bedroom had no shampoo/soap and TV didn't work. It would be nice to include a mini-fridge in the kitchenette. NOTE: Because access to the 2nd bedroom is THRU that Master, there is no emergency exit for this bedroom – especially if guests in Master, lock the breezeway door beside their bed. Suggest replacing window in breezeway with a separate entrance to this above-garage suite for safety. The location and views are stunning and despite a few inconveniences, we very much enjoyed our stay, and would love to come back and experience other Dove's Rest cabins.

Amazing, relaxing stay

It’s hard to describe something so amazing with just a few words. Our stay at the Lighthouse was everything we hoped for. The pictures do not do it justice. The views from the back porch are breathtaking. Every morning we watched the sunrise. We had several visitors every morning and evening: a large family/pack of aoudad, a great horned owl, roadrunners, so many birds and hawks, and a plethora of insects/bugs. The house itself was great. Really no complaints. The location of the house in proximity to town was not bad at all. You are basically already in the state park so that was nice for just whenever we wanted to take a scenic drive. You are also pretty (1 1/2 hour-ish drive) close to Caprock Canyon SP. There are several great restaurants in Canyon. Palace Coffee is true gem and must be tried at least once. We can’t wait to visit again. I would recommend Doves Rest to anyone venturing out to Palo Duro Canyon.
