  • Beautiful cottage recently restored situated on the hills to north of Lucca (mt 250) in the beautiful zone of the sixteenth-century villas of the noble of Lucca.
    Surrounded from olive and fruit trees, plants of lemon and flowers the house enjoys of a splendid sight on the green surrounding hills and on the plain one of Lucca.

Excellent place for holidays in Tuscany

We fully enjoyed our stay, the cosy house and the wonderful view. Isabella was a great host and gave useful advice for shopping, restaurants etc.

Wonderful holiday

We had a great time in this house. It was beautiful and clean. A cooling system inside was great. Isabella is a very good hostess. Unser Hund hat sich sehr wohlgefühlt. Danke für den perfekten Urlaub.

Lucca only a few minutes away

We spent a splendid stay at Matraia(Lucca) -Calm -Sightseeing not far away - Sea only a few kilometres - Mountains in front of your house door - Very friendly Landlord - enogh country for the dog We spent pleasant time at Matraia. Any time again

Nothing more to add from last year; perfect.

Well, I left a very full review last year, in which I said that we were already booking for 2023. What can I add? The place is every bit as good as it was, Isabella is a delightful host, it can't be faulted. There's even a new Smart TV which enabled us to watch some stuff that we'd brought with us on laptop and Netflix. It's a dream place to enjoy one of the most lovely parts of Tuscany.

Beautiful!

The property gardens and being surrounded by the hills was absolutely everything you would want from a Tuscan getaway. Our stay here was lovely and Isabella was very friendly and accommodating. The only thing that threw me off a bit was the fact that we were told that we would have to pay for our energy usage upon check in by Isabella. This was never mentioned anywhere in our booking before hand, nor after we booked, so to be told on the day of checking in was a surprise. The money was paid in cash to Isabella and no receipt was provided. It was not a big charge as we were barely at the house most days and being that Isabella was so accommodating in helping us retrieve one of our lost luggage we did not question it, and just paid her the €32 she charged. Other than this the house is very beautiful and a major plus for anyone who likes quiet, relaxing holidays. told that

Beautiful and calm stay in the mountains close to Lucca

We had an amazing time at Isabella's beautiful house! We couldn't have wished for a better vacation and hope to stay longer the next time! Isabella was a truly helpful, kind and generous host and we are very thankful. We are a family of four with two kids (aged 7 and 4) and the property was ideal for our family. The fact that the garden was fenced in was also perfect, so we didn't have to worry about the kids wandering off. The kids loved sleeping in the bunk bed, everything was very clean and nice, and the kitchen was fully stocked and had everything we needed. The views of the surrounding mountains were breathtaking and the whole scene was very serene and beautiful, everything was calm and it is truly a place where you can relax. (Despite this, the town of Lucca was only 15 minutes away by car, so the location is just perfect). There are two designated dining places in the garden, which was perfect, we enjoyed all our meals outside. There are mosquito screens on all the windows, so you can leave them open through the night without worrying about the bugs coming in, which was nice. Plenty of bed linen and towels and a washing machine, which is always helpful when you're traveling with kids! We can't recommend Isabella's place enough and definitely hope to come back one day!

The Brick Oven Bella Casa

We booked this property last year with great expectations and after our 9 day stay it has exceeded everything we hoped for. Our host Isabella was the best and helped with recommendations and the little things that set this property apart from others in the area. I highly recommend this property and quaint little home to anyone visiting the Lucca area in the future.

Tranquil Stay with lovely views

We loved our stay at the Bricks Oven. Isabella is a fantastic host! She was excellent at helping us order a taxi and provided lots of information to help us explore the area. The place itself is set in a pretty Olive grove and has views of the surrounding hills and glimpses down the valley to Lucca. We found the bed a little uncomfortable but everything was great other than that.

Heaven in Lucca

Isabella and family were exceptional with the coordination and communication. The property exceeded the beauty of the setting on the site, not often the case. Everything exceeded our expectations, value, setting , amenities, and fresh lemons and peaches from the fruit trees. The 5 day stay was perfect. Thank you Isabella, your awesome.

We had wonderful days in Matraia and 'la fornace'. The house and the area are very beautiful, a little paradise. Isabella was a wonderful host. She gave us tips for shopping and restaurants. The photos we saw when booking the house are real. It is as nice as the photos describe. A perfect holiday.

Gorgeous Tuscany

The property was very nice. As much or more than expected. Central location works well as hub for day trips. Host was personable and very gracious. Cooking facility and equipment was adequate. Suggest host supply some basics, such as a few general kitchen seasonings, dish and dishwasher soap, hand/shower soap, extra TP on site.

A very short review!

This will be a very dull read! It's our third stay here and it just gets better and better! It feels like home but in one of the most lovely parts of beautiful Toscana. Nothing is missing from the house that you'd need and Isabella just keeps adding super 'extras'. Stay here and I can guarantee that you will have a beautiful and memorable experience, and I'll bet that you'll return!

Die Kommunikation mit unserer Vermieterin Isabella war schon im Vorwege sehr gut. Am Anreisetag haben wir über WhatsApp direkt unser Einchecken abgesprochen. Isabella hat uns persönlich empfangen, uns die Wohnung und das Grundstück gezeigt und sogar in die Geschichte des Hauses eingeführt. Uns wurden auch Tipps zu Sehenswürdigkeiten und Restaurants in der Nähe gegeben. Kurz, wir fühlten uns sehr gut betreut und in guten Händen. Das Grundstück hat eine traumhafte Lage. Der Ausblick ins Tal ist schon beeindruckend, aber der Blick hoch in die bewaldeten Berge ist Atem berauben. Morgens und abends lauschten wir bei Frühstück bzw entspannten Ausklang dem Gesang der Vögel und im Dunkeln schwirrten zig Glühwürmchen um uns herum. Im Inneren ist das Haus sehr gut ausgestattet. Uns hat nichts gefehlt, um uns wohl zu fühlen. Wir sind mit unseren beiden Hündinnen angereist, die sich auch sehr gerne im komplett eingezäunten Grundstück aufgehalten haben. Unsere Hündinnen wurden auch sehr zugewandt von Isabella begrüßt. Beim Auschecken freuten sich die beiden auch wieder Isabella zu sehen. Der Vorgang war am Vorabend unserer Abreise ebenfalls sehr unkompliziert und herzlich. Da wir früh am Morgen abgereist sind, haben wir das Haus abgeschlossen und den Schlüssel ca 75 Meter weiter bei Isabella, die unsere nächste Nachberin war, in den Briefkasten gelegt. Danke, dass wir in diesem tollen Haus mit dem fantastischen Grundstück zu Gast sein durften. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

Ein wunderschönes Ferienhaus. Isabella ist die beste Vermieterin, die man sich vorstellen kann. Total lieb, bemüht, hilfsbereit, immer sofort ansprechbar usw..Das Grundstück ist ein Traum. Zur Info, falls man mit kleinen Hunden anreisen möchte: der Zaun um das Grundstück herum hat unten eine kleine Lücke. Kleinere Hunde passen darunter durch. Im Haus auf der „Hochebene“ ist es für kleine Hunde ebenso etwas gefährlich.Trotzdem haben die Hunde den Aufenthalt dort sehr genossen und die Klimaanlage hat uns bei Temperaturen von bis zu 40 Grad gerettet. Es war eine wundervolle Zeit, die wir dort verbringen durften. Danke liebe Isabella

Fantastisch verblijf met een heerlijke tuin met verschillende plekken om te zitten. Mooi uitzicht en allerlei olijf- en fruitbomen om je heen. Alles is aanwezig in het huis en de eigenaresse is erg vriendelijk en behulpzaam.

Wir waren mit vier Erwachsenen an diesem wundervollen Platz. Es gibt alles, was man braucht, um selbst zu kochen, ebenso fußläufig fantastische Restaurants und einen regionalen Lebensmittelladen. Matraia ist ein beschaulicher Ort und gleichzeitig gut für Ausflüge in alle Richtungen. Das Haus und der Garten sind liebevoll gestaltet und sehr großzügig. Isabella ist eine tolle Gastgeberin, zugewandt und freundlich mit vielen Tipps für Ausflüge. Wir kommen wieder!!! Danke Isabella dass du diesen großartigen Platz geschaffen hast.

Tolle Unterkunft die nichts vermissen läßt

Wir haben einen tollen und entspannten Urlaub verlebt. Das Haus war gut ausgestattet und war hintsichtlich Übergabe und Sauberkeit top. Die zwei Terassen boten immer gute Möglichkeit je nach Sonnenstand entspannt zu sitzen. Das Grundstück war umzäunt und somit auch für unseren Hund gut geeignet. Wir haben von Isabella tolle Ausflugziele bekommen. Alles in allem ein schöner Urlaub.

Agréable gîte dans un écrin de verdure

Accueil chaleureux de la part d'Isabella qui prodigue bons conseils et informations et sait être présente en cas de petits pépins. Lorsque comme nous vous ne parlez pas italien, cela aide beaucoup d'avoir une interlocutrice maîtrisant bien le français !Le gîte est environné d'arbres et de plantes, citronniers, oliviers, abricotiers, tilleuls, cerisiers etc. En ce début mai nous avons pu profiter des citrons et des premières cerises et le soir admirer le ballet des lucioles !A moins d'une heure de Pise, 1h30 de Florence et 20mn de Lucques (une ville à ne pas manquer) tout en étant au calme, l'emplacement est idéal !
