Most importantly, Maison Fortunat is in Carcassonne town itself, ideal for those who like to dine out and take advantage of the nightlife, as it is only a few minutes’ walk from the historic medieval city (la Cité). The house boasts views of la cité from the garden and sitting room. The house is only 10 minutes walk from a large shopping centre. A 20-minute walk or short bus ride will bring you into the heart of Carcassonne's Bastide, Place Carnot, Canal du Midi and the River Aude. Numerous bus routes run past the house.
Carcassonne is a town of colourful festivals and events, wonderful food, wine and friendly local people, steeped in history and is a fantastic area to explore being only an hour from breathtaking walking, hiking, running, and beach destinations and two hours from ski locations.
