Left a bad last impression
I had thought about letting things go but more and more things came up during my stay. First of all, the owner’s parents live in the front unit so be prepared to be both reported on and expect the host Sabine to always be around. My first impression of the casita was that it was cute and being in the village, it was a convenient spot to be in. That’s where the pros ended. I wouldn’t recommend this place especially in the summertime because being a converted garage, it was really hot and stuffy in there. Being a guest, my bf and I took the initiative to take out the trash here and there because we just thought it was nice. The host contacts me one day to say that it would be nice if I helped take out the trash sometimes, which infuriated me because we had already been doing that. She then decides to put me on a schedule with her parents and said “you go first” to which I complied but it didn’t sit well with me. The lock on the front door had broken so I couldn’t use the code to get in. I asked Sabine if she could please look at it and she said it’s probably the battery so I didn’t press on since normally a host would just address it. A month goes by and nothing, so we started using the ONE key in the unit but it made it hard for my bf and I to coordinate since sometimes we had to run errands separately. Meanwhile, Sabine complained about the trash, our car leaking so we had to park on the street (which was fine but she took the effort to reiterate it to my bf in passing….you know while she was visiting AGAIN). After a month, I gently ask her about the lock and she’s like oh it’s probably the battery and if I had any to replace it with or she can drop some off. I didn't so she drops some off and the next morning asks if I was home because it’s still on my doorstep. Does she have anything better to do than to keep tabs on her guests? The batteries didn’t work, so I had to ask her again about it and If she had an extra key. She said she’d get the lock looked at but it ended up being broken so we got an extra key. The week before I was to move out, she asks if I am going to check out on 8/31 (my last day) or earlier. And be sure to take pictures when you arrive of everything. I used my own bedding because the bedding in the unit was scratchy and uncomfortable. Apparently 3 blankets went missing so she charged me for them while trying to make it sound like she was doing me a favor by giving me a "used" discount.
