I recently stayed at LEGOLAND Hotel California in a Pirate-themed room, and while my kids were initially very excited, the experience started off on a disappointing note.
Check-in is advertised at 4:00 PM, but our room wasn’t ready until around 5:30 PM. Unfortunately, the staff didn’t seem particularly concerned or apologetic about the delay, which set the tone for the stay.
When we finally got to the room, one of the main pirate-themed curtain pieces above the headboard—something prominently shown in photos—was missing. This was a letdown for the kids. When we contacted the front desk, we were told that rooms re-furbished and nothing could be done, which felt dismissive.
For the price point, the room itself felt quite generic, and there weren’t many standout perks to justify the high cost. While breakfast quality was good, the service was slow and disorganized. Guests were often made to wait in line despite several empty tables, which was frustrating.
On the day of checkout, we requested additional towels early in the morning (around 7:00 AM) but were told to go to the front desk instead, even though towels were visibly available. This felt inconvenient, especially when we were just trying to get ready for the day.
Overall, the experience was average at best. Given the price—around $600 per night—I expected better service, more attention to detail, and a better experience. There are likely better-value options nearby with more amenities and stronger service.
Everything was great, the family loved it but disappointed that you can’t control the temperature in the room it was hot and for the price you pay I feel you should be able to control the temperature in your room using the thermostat without having to call anyone but other than that we enjoyed our stay
When you think of kid fire my hotel this is the place to be, the dance party in the elevator was a big hit for kids and adults, we got the standard theme pirate room and it was amazing our kids and I absolutely loved it, the treasure hunt in the room with mini figures for our kids were a great bonus. The breakfast was very good for buffet sausage, French toast, potatoes, chilaquiles ( delicious) rice beans cereal, salad, fruits, the only thing is the orange juice was watered down and apple juice pretty sweet but that was an easy fix. The park is literally steps away I loved how close distance everything was, we walked over to the castle hotel in the evening and my son enjoyed the play area there. It was a great experience highly recommend, we are already planning our next trip.
I took my daughter here for her 11th birthday 🥳 & I honestly thought she had outgrown Legoland & that it might be too young for her BUT I was Soo wrong! She Absolutely loved everything about this themed Legoland hotel & the Legoland Amusement Park. This hotel has thought of anything & everything that parents need for their children while away at a hotel. I was absolutely amazed at all the little convenances of home from multiple step stools to water bottles & apple juice boxes in the hotel rooms & the handheld shower sprayer in the bath & primary colored wooden hangers in the open closet, large bathroom sinks and child and adult toilet seats. You all have thought of everything! My daughters' favorite thing was the large dry river of Legos to make anything she wanted to make near the lobby. My hands down favorite thing were the elevators which are the BEST elevators I have ever experienced in my 53 years of living. Nothing says FUN Birthday celebration than walking into a Legoland hotel elevator & the doors shut & the elevator goes dark & then a disco ball in the ceiling and strobe lights turn on & ABBA song are blasting from the speakers inside the elevator. Every parent is dancing and every child is looking at their parents dancing and they are giggling and smiling! I danced more in these elevators with unknown parents than I have danced my entire life & we were all laughing & giggling & truly having FUN! ❤️ Thank you for letting me experience my childhood again!
Couldn’t get into the room until 4:30. The hallway and room smelled TERRIBLE- there is mold everywhere. Staff was incredibly rude and dishonest. Hotel guests from both LEGOLAND properties only had access to one on-site restaurant making waits and service levels atrocious.
amazing experience, it definitely enhances the park experience, i don't think there's any hotel like it, very engaging experience for the kids. i found out my son really loves to dance and has a knack for it, thanks legoland!!
The room was clean, conveniently located near the elevator, kids loved the decor. We had a wonderful time. Special shout out to Trey who took our bags to our room and got us a better location.
The details that were thought of for the kids was really well done in the hotel room and throughout the hotel. Better than any Disney hotel I’ve stayed at (in my opinion). The bed in our room was a top 5 most comfortable hotel bed, and that’s saying a lot. Every single staff member interaction was welcoming and knowledgeable. Would absolutely stay again!
We have stayed here 3 times and this last time the food at every location was extremely disappointing. Breakfast buffet that is included was constantly running out of fresh food and we were there at 8:30 am, not at closing time. The orange juice tasted like water with a slight orange color. Coffee was empty twice. Went to dinner at the castle(6:30pm) and everything was out, we had the last piece of salmon. Got the salmon and looked like it sat out for hours. So rubbery and dry. It was both my sons birthday celebrations and asked if they could do something for them. The waitress said you can order a dessert from the menu. I asked if they provided anything and she hesitated before saying "well we provide a cookie but we might be out'" they came out with one cookie for both, but before we noticed, they took my 5 yr old sons food (1/4 had been eaten) without asking. He was quite upset and waitress just brushed it off like well I didn't take it, someone else did. Lacked the hospitality we were used to and the food was microwave/heat lamp style. We probably won't be making it again unfortunately.
