“Sandy Paws” suite Upper is a Pet Friendly duplex managed by Dale and Salt Water Real Estate and is the perfect beach location to bring the ENTIRE family, paws and ALL! This second floor 3 bed/1 bath apartment is just one row back from our sandy shores, a moderate walk to downtown CB, and all the sea sights, sounds, and experiences you are looking for!

Pleasure Island (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, and Fort Fisher) has become a RAPIDLY increasing vacation (and full-time!) destination for the East coast and beyond for many reasons. Because we are in fact a true island, our "maximum capacity" and restricted parking options will always limit the number of visitors who can both rent on and visit our Island simultaneously! Although always relative, this provides a bit more elbow room and open space than average for those looking for more “distancing” and privacy than some larger public beaches. It’s a family-oriented beach with a touch of everything one might be looking for! It’s an AMAZING place to visit, live, and never leave!

The home is in the heart of Carolina Beach and moderate walking distance to downtown and everything that is has to offer. In Carolina Beach you’ve got the boardwalk, restaurants, and local shops of all kinds. If you like adventures, the marina is also there where you can take an offshore fishing trip, diving excursion, or party boat out for a sunset sail. Camping more your thing? Bring the 4X4 and drive (and camp) on the beach at Freeman Park, located on the North End of the island. You can also head down to Kure Beach and fish directly off their fishing pier compete with bait, tackles, and more! The Carolina Beach Lake is nearby, hosting a weekly Farmer’s Market every Saturday, FIREWORKS every Thursday, and outdoor summer movies on Sunday’s (on a large inflatable screen in the middle of the lake!). We welcome you to sit back, relax and enjoy yourselves because that's exactly what the beach is for!

The home is a mixture of the original “period” construction and old-world charm, a kiss of shabby-chic modernity, and today’s technology because hey, there’s got to be something for everyone! Above all else, it should feel like your “home away from home” while vacationing with us on our Island!

The entry to this 2 bedroom/1.5 bath home opens up into a large, newly furnished family room combined with an open dining area and fully equipped kitchen (stove+oven, refrigerator). The kitchen is stocked will all of the basic cooking and dining utensils one can expect (plates, bowls, cups, silverware, etc.). In addition, there is a microwave, toaster, coffer maker and blender ready to help make yourself at home. Courtesy organic soap and shampoo are left in the bathroom of each suite as well as a (1) starter roll of TP, a (1) garbage bag, dish soap, and a sponge in each kitchen.

The home's TWO QUEEN and ONE FULL + TWIN bunk bed consists of either a plush luxury mattress or a new encased 8” memory foam/cooling gel composition mattress because we want all of our guests to be comfortable when it comes time to recharge.

There is one smart TV in each suite to utilize one's personal subscriptions (such as Netflix or Hulu) along with a WIFI computer connection for when it's time to sit back and enjoy some movies or shows after a long day at the beach! Bring a Fire Stick, Apple TV, Laptop w/ HDMI cable or another such casting device if looking to ensure all the tech comforts from home are available during your stay!

The outdoor shower is located at the front of the building to help get that sand off of those toes!

The YARD: The backyard/front yard is intended for both units to be able to congregate, BBQ, play, and have a blast. Please do NOT let your pets loose. Feel free to utilize the front yard, side yard, or any number of amazing neighborhood walks to help your furry child relieve themselves.

The SUITE: Guests have full access to their own private SUITE (never shared) along with a private deck/patio. The front yard is shared by BOTH suites and should not be used for pets to run loose unattended. Proper pet etiquette and owner responsibility should be followed at all times!

PARKING: Each guest will have access to (2) TWO 8'x14' assigned parking spaces. Any additional community parking spaces would have availability on a first come first serve basis.

•Closest BEACH access: Oyster shell Public Beach Access (Oyster shell Lane).

I will be available for check-in and general assistance until 8PM EST. Anything with the exception of an emergency (ie. flood, fire, or another *safety* related risk sent to Maintenance) will be responded to ASAP the following day :)

Pleasure Island is a coastal barrier island in Southeastern North Carolina, USA just south of the City of Wilmington. Pleasure Island is located within Federal Point Township, in New Hanover County. The coastal resort towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach, as well as the annexed communities of Wilmington Beach and Hanby Beach are located on the island. The building itself is one row away from the ocean, and one block from the Intracoastal Waterway. The property is set eight blocks from downtown Carolina Beach with its shops, activities, and dining. There are fireworks during the summer every Thursday night, Movies at the lake each Sunday night, and local fairs around the lake each Saturday morning.

Carolina Beach is a mix of friendly locals, snowbirds, and vacationers all looking to escape the inland and enjoy the sand, surf, and sun. We truly have an amazing community! Carolina Beach and the surrounding neighborhoods offer an array of sights and activities to enjoy while here. Some of these examples are (but not limited to) a subtle beach hike through Carolina Beach State Park, Fishing on the Kure Beach Pier, kayaking to one of the many islands surrounding the Intracoastal Waterway, watching canons blast during a historical reenactment at the Fort Fisher State Historic Site, or petting some Sting Rays at the North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher. This doesn’t even include the aweing scenery of Airlie Gardens, and our very own battleship (USS NC) in Wilmington! Perhaps more relaxing and less “adventure” is your speed? Our own local Brewery (Good Hops) along with a round of Frisbee golf may be what the doctor ordered!

There isn’t anywhere or anything on our Island that isn’t accessible with foot power. Downtown Carolina Beach has several vendors such as Tony Silvagni’s Surf School @ 308 S Lake Park Blvd, Carolina Beach, NC 28428 (bicycles, paddleboards, surfboards, kayaks, chairs, and umbrellas) for rent as an alternative to walking or driving. There's Sun Fun Rentals @1204 N Lake Park Blvd Unit F Carolina Beach, NC 28428. Taxi’s (local golf cart taxi’s) and Uber’s are also generally available for an assist when needed as well throughout the island! You can catch a Ferry to Southport in Kure Beach @ 2422 Fort Fisher Blvd S Kure Beach which leads to another ferry to Bald Head Island where NO CARS are allowed at all!

After all, you won’t catch many locals going OTB! (Over The Bridge). Everything you need is right here!

Our partners support guests of Salt Water Real Estate with the highest caliber of local services for extremely competitive and oft discounted pricing.

•Linens (sheets, bath towels, beach towels, wash cloths, floor towels, pillowcases, etc.) along with pillows and a summer comforter ARE included in your suite rental! Prior to departure, please assist our linen team by beginning a load before hitting to road!

•The Town of Carolina Beach offers multiple public parking options to visitors and residents on a FIRST COM-FIRST SERVE basis. Town-operated parking is open year round and paid parking is enforced March 1st - October 31st from 9AM - 8PM. Parking fees restart each morning during enforcement hours for all of the Town's parking lots and on-street parking spaces.

GOLF CARTS

•To the county, golf carts are considered automobiles. Generally speaking, golf carts are NOT allowed on premises of ANY condo, condotel, or apartment. The same goes for trailers, motorcycles, etc. For SFR’s or properties supporting multiple vehicles, carts should be OK. However, be conscious that few homes have external outlets WITHOUT GFCI’S (which are code by today’s standards). Charging a cart on a GFCI will immediately trip the breaker, resulting in the inability to charge a cart amongst other repercussions. Gas carts will generally be the ideal rental option if in a home whose parking supports such.

•ALL suites are non-smoking (including vaping) and a heavy cleaning/repair charge can result if not adhered to. This includes porches, decks, balconies, and walkways.

This was the best vacation we have ever taken. The place was clean and close to everything. It was relaxing without alot of noise; which was important to us. You get so much more than what the price with all the comforts you have at home. It was very close to the beach and not to far from the boardwalk. It was very comfortable and cool inside and the tv was equipped with apps to watch whatever you want and was set up ready. The owner was easy to talk to and eat to get ahold of. We will be coming back here year after year and have no need to look elsewhere. Thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to stay at your property.

-The house is close to a public beach access. The walk is not horrible (across the street & down 2-3 houses). Pet hours are 9-5, so our dog often had to stay at the house. :-( -Peaceful ocean view (not ocean front) on the front porch. There was a door/gate, so the dog could stay on porch with us without worrying about him going down steps. -Beds were noisy and furniture was more collegey. I expected more sturdy furniture for the price. -Overall, it's an ok place to stay but wouldn't stay again. -We had to leave 3 days early due to an unexpected death in the family. I would have assumed that are nights would be refunded but they weren't.

A TV and AC in everyroom and plenty of storage if you are into unpacking. Rooms where spacious and I was really superised how nice it was. I could live there and be a happy beach bum. One minute from the beach, fifteen (walking time for both) from the boardwalk which has some of the best donuts I have ever had, (cash only) Britts. Also the pizza, Frentoni's great NY style which we ate a few times during our stay. They have a by the slice window for when we were just walking around and playing at the arcade. A sushie place called Cherry Blossom which they make your food to order and it was so good. Also there is a burger joint called Island Burger and Bites you must have, everything is so close you dont need to drive anywhere. It was amazing, the neighbors were friendly and the beach was perfect, wasnt crowded. There was so much to do, eat, and see I feel like we needed another week there. We will be back next year!

This property was perfect. The house sits within a short few steps to the beach. The porch is perfect for sitting on while enjoying the ocean breeze and listening to the waves at night. We had everything that we needed and it was quiet. We loved it so much we tried to extend our stay but it was booked. The property manager worked very closely with us to get us to another property so we could extend our vacation. We will not use any other property management group and look forward to coming back. Our pups gave it two paws up and did not want to leave. Thank you so much!

The home is adorable and in a great location, both on the lot and very easy to get to the beach access. The owner Dale has been great to work with from the beginning. We had a couple requests which he was willing to work with us on, so if you need something its definitely worth asking him if he can accommodate it. Any of the neg reviews we saw posted in past have all been fixed and is well maintained. If you have any issues Dale is quick to reply. We will definitely be looking forward to coming back again.

The location was great and had ample parking for upto 4 large vehicles. Loved being able to sit on the deck and that it is so close to beach access. The beds were comfortable and the laundry was a nice perk. The information packet that was provided for the nearby amenities was an amazing resource. The only 2 potential drawbacks were that one bedroom was not air conditioned, and the kitchen was missing some things that I would expect (unit was listed for 6 people but only had 3 forks, 4 plates, and 2 bowls, also there was no means for making ice in the freezer). These things did not affect us so we didn't bother to contact anyone about them.

We had a wonderful family beach vacation the week of July 4th. This duplex was right across the street from the beach. Handicap access just a few houses down made it easy for us all to enjoy. The upper suite was as described and all 3 bedrooms had plenty of room. Perfect location for watching fireworks. We were able to see fireworks from all directions and they were spectacular!! We look forward to booking with you again in the future. Tammy

If you stay in this unit, the best thing to do is stay at the beach as long as possible. It was difficult to stay inside due to size of room. It can accommodate up to 6 people but doesn’t provide enough plates, mugs or cutlery for everyone. They must assume you plan to buy ice because there were no ice trays, 1 mirror on the medicine cabinet is the only mirror in the place, that was a challenge. 3rd bedroom has no a/c unit keeping that room stuffy especially since the w/d unit is there. The worst part was the issue in the bedroom or the eating area. We tried to bake one night and the smoke detector kept going off because oven door didn’t seem to close properly. One morning we woke up covered in bug bites that are still presenting. I’ve shared all of this with manager. I probably would have let this all slide, until the issue of the bites came along. We did have an issue with a ceiling fan the wasn’t able to be turned on/off because of a middling chain. Raul promptly responded and was there bright and early the next morning. Two members of the party ended up going to immediate care about the bugs and having to go on antibiotics, steroids and a steroid shot because of this. That includes my daughter and me who. We Slept in a room together. Vrbo has been contacted and I have a case number. Stay tuned

We had a wonderful time here! The duplex is really well appointed. The only thing we needed was a real vacuum and a mop. Our Bichon Frise got so hot that she started pulling out chunks of hair and we couldn't properly clean it up before leaving. The beds were super comfy, plenty of silverware, full sized fridge and ac units in each room. Don't hesitate to book this house! You can't beat it, trust me.
