The holiday flat for four persons is located in an old building in the village of Carro, in the Val di Vara, near the Cinque Terre and the Riviera di Levante. The property is located in the historic centre of Carro.
From a corner of the living room, a staircase leads to the terrace, built into the roof, which offers a panoramic view of the Apuan Alps. It is equipped with garden furniture such as a table, two chairs and two armchairs, a parasol and flowering plants. Suitable for outdoor dining.
The 80 sqm flat is located on the second floor of a historic two-storey building that once belonged to a branch of the Nicolò Paganini family. The living area is on one level. There is a living room with a Frau armchair, a two-seater sofa and six antique prints on the walls. The living room leads to the kitchen-dining room with an extendable wooden table with four chairs and antique prints combined with modern designer lamps. Here you will also find a fully equipped kitchenette with a four-burner cooker, washing machine, dishwasher, toaster, iron and ironing board. The refrigerator with freezer is tucked away in a corner. Tasteful plates, glasses and cutlery are available and stored in a rustic, antique kitchen cupboard. The dining room leads to the sleeping area. The first bedroom is very spacious and has a 160 x 200 cm double bed with a light duvet. What makes the rooms special are the vaulted ceilings and the sober but tasteful furnishings, in some cases embellished with designer objects. A large open corner shelf provides sufficient space for your personal belongings. Opposite the bedroom is another room with two iron beds (80 x 200 cm each) and also a shelf for personal effects. There are also Provencal armchairs and an antique mirror. Both rooms are equipped with cotton curtains and new mattresses, pillows and sheets. The bathroom is also new and lined with marble. It has a shower, toilet, washbasin and bidet. A hairdryer is also available.
The flat is located in the historic centre, in the pedestrian zone. Opposite, however, there is a small square with a public car park.
The Paganini Festival takes place every year in July and August in the historic centre of Carro. In the village there is a grocery shop, a tourist promotion office, a post office and a pharmacy.
In the village you will find a bar and a pizzeria/restaurant, which can be reached by a very romantic walk. The restaurant is good and inexpensive. Five kilometres away there are two more restaurants offering typical Ligurian cuisine prepared with organic products. After about 16 km, you reach Varese Ligure, a small but very elegant town with many restaurants. In Brugnato (8 km) you will also find a selection of excellent restaurants and bars, as well as an outlet store.
The rocky coast of the Cinque Terre and the beaches of Levanto and Bonassola are a twenty-minute drive away. The Val di Vara is an ideal place for hiking or horseback riding through picturesque landscapes. But you can also explore the surroundings by bicycle or motorbike. Other sports activities include rafting, canoeing and tennis. Possible excursion destinations are the Maissana adventure park and the Monte Marcello regional park. Culture lovers can stroll along the artistic routes through the villages and castles or visit the museums in and around La Spezia. From 15 July 2016 to 31 August 2016 there is a free shuttle service to the sea in Deiva organised by the municipality of Carro (two trips per day).
The house is equipped with bed linen, towels, tea towels and bathrobes. For stays longer than three days, a cleaning service can be requested. Due to the entrance staircase with steps made of typical Ligurian black slate, this holiday accommodation is unfortunately not suitable for people with mobility difficulties. The landlady lives in the same street, only twenty metres from the flat, and is therefore easily accessible for any questions.
