The houses on the Agout, former tanners', dyers' and weavers' houses, display their facades in pastel shades ranging from white to green, from blue to orange.
The birthplace of Jean Jaurès, the child of the country, dominates the square of the same name from his pedestal. Castres is one of the highlights of the Tarn on the road to the Mediterranean and Carcassonne. The quays, the colourful houses, the typical Hispanic atmosphere, with Goya and Velazquez, two timeless artists in the background. But Castres is also animated by the flame of sport: the inevitable rugby.
