Disliked: Check-in, communication, listing accuracy
While the floors were certainly clean as were the linens, there was black mold growing in the bathroom and under the kitchen sink. We found dirty dishes and dirty silverware as well as flaking Teflon pans (highly toxic of you don't know) and a terribly dirty stainless steel pot. There was rancid olive oil in the cabinet and the host stated that previous guests used the oil without complaints. I checked multiple bottles that were present and they were unquestionably rancid.
With regards to the check-in process, Expedia stated that we would receive an email from the host and from VRBO the day before the booking. That was not the case nor was there anything resembling a prompt reply from messaging the host nor was there any positive outcome when contacting VRBO directly. I didn't receive check-in information until approximately 10:00 p.m. the night before. We are a senior couple and 10:00 p.m. is a late time for us, especially when having to get up early for our flight to Catania.
The neighborhood is funky at best (we weren't expecting much as our primary need was proximity to the airport). However, as is often the case, people were kind and friendly.
Will I ever consider this location again? Not even for free.
