Quiet and serene retreat for families (pets allowed if approved prior to arrival. Pets not allowed on any of the furniture or beds and cant be left alone in the house at anytime) located in California Gold Country on a ranch property - a little more than a mile from highway 140, which is the route to the west entrance of Yosemite Valley. The property is situated in the rolling hills and oak trees of Catheys Valley. The sunrise and sunsets are gorgeous and the night sky has an unobstructed view of the stars. The historic rock walls that exist on the property are from the early gold rush days of California. Wildlife abounds on this property - deer, coyote, bobcats, birds such as turkey, hummingbirds and the California Quail. The retreat has just been renovated and has two comfortable bedrooms. The two bedrooms each have a queen bed. Two twin size rollaway cots can be available when booking for 5 or 6 guests. There is central air conditioning and heat. The open floor plan has a living room with plenty of lounging area and includes games and puzzles, large smart TV with Netflix, & Wi-Fi. The kitchen has a full size refrigerator /freezer, a stove/oven, microwave, toaster, Keurig coffee machine & tea pot, glasses, dishes, pots/pans, silverware and cooking utensils. The back patio has a beautiful view, a table with chairs and a small enclosed yard. You will NOT be sharing this home with anyone else. We have 2 security cameras, 1 facing the front door, 1 facing the back door. Catheys Valley is a quaint small town with a restaurant, gas and convenience store and a small post office. The Cathey Valley park has the old Catheys Valley school house, an informational plaque/marker describing the founder of Catheys Valley and a blacksmith shop sponsored by the Catheys Valley Historical Society - open during special events and holidays. Raw Roots Farm are located in Catheys Valley and are worth the visit. You can also arrange an animal tour with us while you are visiting. The Mariposa Fair Grounds hosts the Mariposa County Fair and rodeo including the demolition derby, various events and festivals and the Mining and Mineral Museum that gives you the colorful history of our gold country past. Mariposa is a small gold rush town that now offers local antiques, gift shops and art galleries, wine and olive oil tasting, restaurants, groceries and gas stations. For historical sightseeing, the court house is the original court house built in 1854 and the only original court house still operating in California. Tours are available during certain times of the year. The Mariposa Museum of History sits in the central part of town and is close to breakfast, lunch and dinner options.
Highway 140 continues through Mariposa along the scenic Merced river to the west entrance of Yosemite National Park, the only all weather route into Yosemite and the closest entrance to the valley floor loop. Along the route there are places to stop for picnics, water rafting, beaches and of course beautiful scenic photography opportunities of the wild California poppies and the beautiful rock outcroppings. The Merced River Recreation Area in Briceburg is a great place for all of these. Other family activities around Mariposa include the historic Sugar Pine Railroad that takes guests on a 4 mile narrated railway adventure traversing original logging rail beds by a steam locomotive; the Sierra Vista Scenic Byway will take you through giant sequoia groves, alpine lakes, wildflower fields and amazing views of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range; and multiple lakes for swimming, boating or fishing. Yosemite National Park is set within California’s Sierra Nevada mountains. It’s famed for its giant, ancient sequoias, and for Tunnel View, the iconic vista of towering Bridalveil Fall and the granite cliffs of El Capitan and Half Dome. In Yosemite Village are shops, restaurants, the Yosemite Museum and the Ansel Adams Gallery, offering prints of the photographer’s renowned black-and-white landscapes of the area.

Very nice clean home had everything we needed. Spacious and loved the floor plan - great laundry room and front porch area. Had our grandkids stop in to visit during our stay (they live in CV) and they enjoyed the farm animals. This was a return visit to the property as we had stayed in a smaller home onsite 2 years ago - definitely will be back.
Very good. Quick to respond, place was clean and cozy. Only thing that was slightly misleading is we have neighbors closer than we thought and Yosemite was an hour and a half drive. Other than that everything was good.
The house was very clean and spacious. Out of every window was a beautiful view. The farm animals just yards away was certainly a huge perk! Would definitely stay again.
My wife and I brought out two young boys back to Mariposa county to visit. This was an affordable, comfortable, and convenient place for our family to use as a home base to visit all of our old friends and favorite locations.
About 1:15 min from Yosemite. Very convenient location from the Bay Area. House is clean and well equipped. Jason was very accommodating and responsive. Great trip overall.
The house is spacious and clean, and the country farm setting was very relaxing, and a lot of fun for our kids who went out to look at the animals over and over.
Jason and his wife were amazing for our family we had a few issues but they were really non issues. The home was awesome and big enough to accommodate ten of us. It's a great spot so you can go into Yosemite about an hour away. We were very pleased. We will stay again for sure Yosemite is beautiful. If you'd like to see something magical try the sequoia forest after your trip to Yosemite. Thank you Jason for everything
As stated above, the shower pressure is poor and the water is lukewarm at best. You have to turn the shower dial on the extreme cold setting to get a chance for any warm water. I found multiple bugs under beds there was bird feces all over the front porch and chairs.
Communication with the property manager Jason was poor at best. No response to any questions that we had while we stayed on the property. There are MUCH nicer properties closer to Yosemite. I would suggest searching and saving travel time versus compromising on a property such as this one.
Loved the house and surrounding property. We met both our neighbors who were renting also . Everyone and everything was 5 star. And the night sky was amazing.
We are traveling Yosemite for 4 days and we were very lucky to stay in this accommodation with such a large and modern settings. Thank you Jason.

Family Room
Liked the small community of homes. Walked in the door to a nice little gift. How can you not like that. It tells me that they care about your stay and are there for you if you need them. The house itself was very clean and spacious. The rooms were large enough for our extended family to spread out. We had a rainy day while there. Time was spent paying games, spending family time on the full length covered porch, and yes some watched Netflix. The kids even sat quiet enough to watch a wild turkey walk past the porch down to the woods. There is so much more I could say. I'll just say I loved our stay and would stay again. Thank you so much, Denice

Lovely accommodations
Easy; and Jason responded quickly to our one request and forgave us for our lack of tech ability.
One recommendation is to have bedside reading lamps for insomniacs like me.
Also, instructions for direct TV for those who have never used it before.

Excellent accommodations close to Yosemite
The house was a perfect home base for a few days exploring Yosemite in the winter. The ability to bring my two dogs was great especially the fenced in yard. The house is well equipped to cook meals and save Money. There are some cute farm animals that love to walk along the fence line when the see you. Jason was an exceptional owner answering all questions and always available. Will stay again in a heartbeat. Thanks Jason!!

Great ambiance, love the amenties, personal touch
Jason really customizes the house according to your stay details. Being two guests we were given access to two bedrooms. When we walked in, he had left a personal letter with a free bottle of wine and some snacks for us. The kitchen had most things you need to cook meals including pots and pans. I really appreciated that he gave us two Tidepods to do some cleaning. The house has a miners theme which was a nice touch. The day we left we got to see all of the cute animals on the ranch nearby who were really comfortable around people and even approached us! Overall great stay, I would stay again especially given that it’s a relatively quick drive to Yosemite.
