Good location for visiting Java culture and history sites - Borobudur and Prambanan Temples, and Sultan's Palace are essential visits, as is Jalan Malioboro. Walkable for local shopping malls, and for the wonderful House of Raminten restaurant. Great breakfast with lots of variety. Kind and friendly staff were very helpful throughout the stay."

"Visiting Yogyakarta for the first time, I decided to stay at the Royal Ambarrukmo. I am glad I picked this hotel as it was a very comfortable stay with many great amenities. I utilized their fitness area, which had many options for weight training with the machines they had, including dumbbells. The staff was terrific, and I would say one of the best parts of my stay was the breakfast. Never have I seen so many options in a breakfast buffet. I maybe tried a tenth of what they had to offer, and I didn’t have room to try anymore. Make sure you don’t miss the breakfast to get your day started."

"I stayed for 6 nights at the Manohara hotel for a conference at UGM. My stay throughout was excellent, provided that one does not stick around for a meal or beverages. On the one occasion when I decided to have lunch in their restaurant on a Saturday afternoon at 12pm, my one dish of rice and fried chicken took nearly an hour to arrive. Besides one other party of guests in the restaurant, there was just myself. The hotel, room, and location are excellent, but you are better off finding a meal outside the hotel. "
