Outdoor hot tub and heated saltwater pool (in winter!) were for sure the high light. So lovely and room had robes to wear to get there. Room was fine and well kept. There was no maid service and the breakfast was terrible, but otherwise all was good.
The heated pool and hot tub are great. The kids were nervous about swimming outside in the cold winter until they got in the pool. Then they didn't want to leave.
Rooms could use a little investment to keep it antique but fresh and appealing.

Liked: Staff & service
The pots and pan suck, the upstairs lights didn’t work and the bathroom with twin beds were clogged and unusable. Staff was ok but the dining food was excellent. My spa massage could’ve been better. The staff at the spa could of been more helpful. I felt like my kind wasn’t welcome in the town.
It was our first time in the castle itself, usually we stay in the lower hotel but the rates were comparable to the least expensive so I booked one night in the “castle”. The only complaint we really had was the heater in the room was controlled from a thermostat that was down the hall and was for the entire building so our room was either cold or way too hot even with the windows open in late April. That being said it was only when you were getting in or out of the shower and getting ready for bed. I understand it’s a very old building that needs to be reserved, however a mother form of heat source would have been better. I will stay here again though we will be prepared the next time with extra clothing. My wife was cold, you know women are often cold so I would have liked more heat control for her sake, call me over protective lol. The shower water would change from hot to warm then cold then hot flashes then warm then cold and it stayed cold for a bit so we got out for 15 min then it was hot again long enough to shower. Al in all it was a 4 out of 5 type of stay. The hot tub was great over at the spa:!!
STAFF
I want to start by pointing out that the staff at the hotel were above and beyond PHENOMENAL, and I mean ALL THE STAFF.
I spent the weekend up there and got stuck with some car problems in a blizzard and dealt with everybody on the staff there. They were some of the nicest people I have ever dealt with in the hospitality industry.
When I say all the staff, I mean all the staff!
DAY 1. The plow guy helped me get my car out of a spot when my snow chain broke and I couldn’t move.
DAY 2 The maintenance guy got me down to the front desk when my car broke down, then the manager got me a new room right away and gave me a ride to where I needed to go.
DAY 3 The other manager called her brother-in-law to come tow and fix my car when the other shops in town were full on a Monday morning. The other front desk staff were great at letting me stay in my room until the car was finished. The cleaning crew who are the hardest working people in the industry were checking to see if my car was ok and if I needed anything.
ROOM,
I stayed in a two-bedroom condo that had a fireplace, full kitchen, huge living room and everything was spotless. The place was beautiful and fit 8 people. The only thing I would say is that if there is a big blizzard coming make sure you’re prepared with chains or snow tires if you are at the top of the hill because it could be a little challenging to get there with a ton of snow.
