"Overall it was good. Unusual for a hotel of this level there was plenty of room between the bed and the wall. The breakfast was well stocked and prepared. Real plates and utensils were a surprise. On the other hand I think they hung the shower rod too high because the inner shower liner did not reach the top of the tub. In addition there was hair from a previous guest that had not been cleaned from the shower."

"The mattress on the bed was excellent, though the pillows could be better. The interior spaces were full of a huge array of fine antiques. The exterior spaces are under construction or in need of maintenance. Breakfast was a true Southern experience and a good fit if you are planning to bike the Virginia Creeper. The bathrooms are shared among the guests with the exception of the Honeymoon Suite, which is huge. The estate is minutes from the trail and the outfitters who support bikers and hikers."
