This Amazing 3 bedroom 2 bath home is located in the Warner Mountain Range in Surprise Valley California. It is surrounded by a working cattle and sheep ranch for a true country feel. If you are looking for the perfect quiet get away this Country "Cabin" that is approx . 3000+/- sq feet of country living space.
It has 2 private bedrooms and a loft bedroom. This home will sleep 6-10 people with ease. It has a large 3 car garage for a great place for the kids to play. Inside the garage is another apartment that can also be rented for extra sleeping space. It does have it's own bathroom as well.
This home has views that overlook all of Surprise Valley. You will have access to the Warner Mountains for hiking and recreation.

Beautiful and quiet

House is secluded, and very well maintained. Large enough to stretch your legs and close enough to town for a easy visit. My brother lives in town but has a small house so this was a great place to have a family get together. Will 100% stay again.

Memorial for our mom

The house was perfect for a celebration of life for my siblings and I. It was comfortable and had way more beds and soace than listed which was perfect! We were able to be together and do the celebration right there. We had everything we needed and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Host was absolutely amazing. If your looking for a place for an event or just to relax with a lot of peoole,this place is it. It os beautiful indide and out. Secluded as well which was very relaxing for us as we processed the loss of our mom.

Gods country

The views are amazing. The hunting is great. We just happen to go in July. It was hot and the house does not have adequate a/c the twin beds upstairs was super warm at night. The power went out for a couple hours. We had a freak thunderstorm, but overall we just had a great time if you love nature viewing stars, this is the place to go

Warner mountain hideaway

Love staying here , I’ve stayed here with my wife , brother and friends and my Son many times at different times of year. Pam and Lee are the best hosts and the house is fantastic. We will continue to come as long as they offer it. Feels like home.

High desert paradise

All I can say is….WOW!

This property was AMAZING! Worked out perfect for our last minute plans we needed to stay in Cedarville to visit my grandpa over the Thanksgiving weekend. We come to Cedarville every Thanksgiving as our family is over at our family ranch in Vya, NV and as our family grows we need more space. Steamboat Stop gave us exactly that! Created lots of memories & we all can’t wait to go back!

An outstanding home in a stunning setting

This is the first ever all 5 star rating I’ve ever done. Surprise Valley is a stunningly beautiful and peaceful setting. The home is absolutely gorgeous and very well appointed. Views are incredible 360 degrees. The owner provided great communication. My family and I plan to come again for a much longer stay, the area has much to offer.

Surprise Valley

We have fallen in love with the Surprise Valley and this was a nice place to stay, especially if you have a big group. (We had 11 of us). Plenty of room in the kitchen, which we needed since we all like being in the kitchen. The location though was what made it. We were in the heart of the Valley with terrific views.

Paradise

This was our second stay at the Cedarville house and, once again, we didn’t want to leave. We were so glad to meet Pam this time, our generous and helpful host. … Our days were dedicated to exploring the vast countryside around the house — the Warner Mountains, the wildlife refuges, etc. We saw pronghorn and wild horses — a treat! The house is huge and comfortable, with a fabulous kitchen and amazing shower. We will be back soon.

Large group for a local wedding

We came in for my daughter’s local wedding and needed a place for a larger group. It was perfect! The master bedroom was perfect for her and her bridesmaids to get ready in and the windows and natural light are great for photography. Pam is wonderful to work with and a great host. The only fall back was that it gets hot and it could use blinds in the living room windows and more window units for the garage apartment and 2nd bedroom. Otherwise, the stay was amazing and I would stay again in a heartbeat. Thanks!

Great location - A/C a little weak

We really enjoyed our stay. This is a great place in a great location for those who want to get away from it all. For those who love astonomy, it has wonderful dark skies and no local street lamps or house lights that interfere. Pam is a great host and there's a lot of little extras she provides that make it clear she aims to please (the game room in the garage was much beloved by the kids). Our only minor complaint (caveat: We came on one of the hottest weekends of the year) the AC system was a bit under powered. The main bedroom was nice and cool, but the main area, the loft and the 2nd bedroom were a bit warm. I'd suggest moving the current A/C in the main area to the 2nd bedroom and adding a much larger unit for the main area. It also would have been nice if a few of the larger doors, particularly in the loft, had screens on them so once it cooled down in the evening we could have opened them to get better airflow. Finally, to add my comments to the issue of the road/driveway others have commented on... I think just about any standard car can make it, at least in the summer. If you have a lowered suspension or a sports car it might be more of a challenge (but not impossible) due to minor rutts in the road. I'm not sure what people are talking about when they mention rocks as it was all dirt/gravel. All told, I would have been comfortable driving my VW Jetta down that road (I brought the truck for other reasons).

Fabulous, As Always!

This was our 4th stay st Steamboat in 5 years, and it was our most relaxing yet! We love hanging out and cooking at the house and the views are absolutely amazing. This time, we were lucky enough to be able to see all of the fireworks shows up and down Surprise Valley from the back porch. Pam once again was the best host with her quick and kind responses. Thanks so much for having us again, Pam, and good luck with the haying season!

Peaceful and Relaxing

We toured around California before settling at the ranch for the last few days of our vacation to unwind and relax. It was a very peaceful and secluded setting that gave us the breather we needed. Our stay at the Steamboat Stopover Ranch in Cedarville was nothing short of amazing. Pam is an absolutely incredible host—welcoming, attentive, and thoughtful in every way. The lodge feels so warm and homey, with the most breathtaking views that truly make it a slice of paradise. Every detail is perfectly curated, and it has absolutely everything you could possibly need for a complete and relaxing getaway. This was our second visit, and it certainly won’t be our last. We can’t wait to return again and again to this special place. Highly recommend!

Winter wonderland

Great location to view Surprise Valley and learn its history. Hosts provided a great tour of a working ranch and offered minor changes that could accommodate our horse trail riding group for a future visit. Allowed us to check in a little early in order to get a quick tour before dark.
