Newly Renovated close to Downtown & Folly Beach

Completely renovated in January 2022, Highland Cottage offers the perfect location in laid-back James Island, a suburb of Downtown Charleston. Ideally located 4 miles from Historic Downtown Charleston and 7 miles from Folly Beach. The cottage is equipped with a full-service kitchen with brand new appliances, Rinnai gas hot-water heater and outdoor grill. Within a one-block easy walk, you have access to many restaurants and one block from Starbucks. We are also only 1 block away from the closest public bus stop with access to Downtown Charleston. Beach chairs and a cooler are onsite and available to our guests. Great affordable option for visiting Charleston.

Really cute cottage in the perfect location! Very well-maintained, clean, with lots of added touches to enhance our stay. And we loved the countertop ice maker and excellent AC after hot days, exploring the city! Highly recommend!

Made our Vacation!

The property was absolutely amazing. It had a little bit of everything. The outdoor are was phenomenal in the afternoon as it gave the family time to play outside after our day at the beach. The house itself felt like a home. The family and I have put this on our list of favorites and will plan to come back again!

Great Place !

House was great! Homey and cozy but not over the top with decorations. This made for flat empty surfaces for our stuff! Well stocked and adorable ! Communication was spot on. Location was great too.

The cottage is in a great location. You can walk/run for pleasure or exercise.It's close to downtown, not too far from the beach and other attractions.It's a comfortable size for 4 adults.The property is well kept.

Charleston James Island

This is a gem in the inside but deceptively not on first outside glance. The place could have used some shelving in bathrooms. Maybe a better cupboard for dishes. We are older and getting down on the floor to get the dishes was a bit hard. But the place was overall great for four of us. Great outside sitting and a great grill.

Bright Lovely Well-situated Spot

Kit's little getaway was perfect for our family of 4. The rooms were quiet and we never heard either street noise or people in the adjacent unit. The kitchen was well-appointed although we mostly dined around town. The countertop ice machine was a nice bonus! Our communication was easy and quick, parking was easy and generous, and we regret not having time to enjoy the outdoor sitting area in the yard.

Decent stay in a convenient location.

Everything in the home was as pictured. It was close to the beach and May places we visited were less than 20 minutes away. Unfortunately, a few things were not to my satisfaction; towel had (perceived) makeup stains that didn’t come out in the wash, spiderwebs in some places and the countertop ice maker had a dirty reservoir which was not discovered until after we’d used the ice for 2 days. So, to the naked eye things are very satisfactory and I’m not sure I’d stay again.

Perfect spot between the beach and downtown

We enjoyed staying here, the drive was short to the beach and downtown Charleston. The location was near many restaurants and stores, but was in a quiet neighborhood. Would stay again for sure!

Tremendous Stay

Everything was perfect. She has everything a person needs in this apartment-coffee, laundry supplies, shampoo, beach towels and chairs, and when I enquired about an issue, she was there taking care of it the next morning (and it was a very minor question). Location was so convenient to Folly Beach, downtown, plantation and restaurants within walking distance.

Wonderful Place

Everything about this place was excellent. The very convenient location, comfortable beds, the back deck and well kept property made for a great stay. We even tried out the tandem bike riding back to the nearby Dock Street park!

Girls Trip

We booked this cottage for a short girls trip to Charleston. The cottage was in a perfect location close to Charleston and Folly beach. The host has thought of every need for the renters! Everything was provided to make our stay very comfortable.

A gem

Loved the cottage, so clean. Great location. Easy access to downtown. Front room TV doesn't get a good connection to live TV even after the TV was swapped out. Our party of 4 agreed that matresses on both beds were a bit too soft, but perhaps might be better suit with a mattress platform in between the mattress and box springs. They had coils in them and the were squeaky. They might be ok for young people or those who don't have bad backs. Just a suggestion. The platforms are affordable and can be purchased on Amazon. People use them to provide more comfort on sofa sleepers. Regarding the TV, a booster is not sufficient enough, it needs its own box. The place is really nice though. I ended up casting youtube live TV from my ipad to the TV in the livingroom to bypass the buffering issue.

Great location to check out the 3 islands and Charleston!

This rental is basic but has everything you need. Great location to stay at if you want to check out Isle of Palms, Folly, and Sullivan's, as well as Charleston, since it's pretty centrally located and right off the main road. Seems to be in a safe neighborhood with easy access to grocery, Walmart, Dunkin/Starbucks, etc. Owner was very responsive and great to work with! :)

Loved this rental!

We stayed here for a girls’ trip. The place is so well equipped! We loved it so much. It was the perfect location between downtown and Folly Beach. We had some issues with the tv. One text message and we heard back right away. Communication was prompt. I would definitely stay again!

Perfect location, great host

Firstly to say how helpful,kind and friendly Kit is. She really goes out of her way to ensure you have the best experience possible. The property is in an ideal location with easy access to Charleston and Folly beach - although would definitely recommend you have a car. The neighbourhood is quiet and lovely , and there's a reasonable bar and restaurant at the top of the road. The accommodation was good, clean, comfortable, well stocked. There are even beach chairs and umbrella provided. That's in addition to the tandem, although we didn't test that out !! Would happily stay here again, and highly recommend.
