Dreadful reek of cigarettes in the room ☹️

This is the second time we have stopped here. Last time, great - no problems, but this time was awful. We arrived very late (06:00) due to delays. Check-in was fine as the day shift had started work! When we opened the room door, we were greeted with the most awful reek of cigarettes. The room just stank☹️. Obviously the hotel staff were aware of the problem as the window was left wide open. I can only imagine how much worse it would have been if we had checked in the day before and the window had not been open for many hours……. Breakfast was OK, but not as good as last time, with very little food available- and no croissants! The staff were friendly and welcoming, but we could have done without the “filthy old ashtray” atmosphere in the room. We had just travelled 400 miles and taken a ferry - all we wanted was a sleep in a clean and fresh smelling room!

Shocking service.

This place would have been okay for a quick overnight sleep. We arrived in the evening to the rudest man I have ever met on reception , who seemed Pissed off that we arrived and was muttering insults at us in French. We tried to stay calm as we needed a bed for the night. The night watch man was really a horrible person and I hope his manager and employer reads this.

Good and bad

The hotel was clean. It seemed as if the showers and toilets had been renovated and were clean and presentable. The room was very hot and stuffy. There are no towels provided and you have to make up your own bed when you get there.
