"There was a water-side walking trail and small park across the road. The area was very picturesque with coastal hills and mountains across the strait, a variety of large commercial ships, fishing boats of various sizes and assorted personal craft. The manager was very friendly and helpful. We had accidentally reserved 2 rooms and it was too late to give a refund. However he kindly upgraded our room; it was recently updated (some minor details still to be done) but fully serviceable. It had sliding door access to the front lawn and overlooked the waterfront described earlier. They offered free cold, bottled water which is a nice touch for travellers."

"We had a wonderful stay overall! The staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome—their hospitality and helpfulness were top-notch throughout our visit. You also couldn't ask for a better location, which made getting around extremely convenient. The property is currently undergoing renovations, so some rooms could use an upgrade with appliances. We booked two rooms during our stay: one was very nice and perfectly temperature-controlled, while the other had a few cooling issues, though it was still manageable. Despite the ongoing updates, the excellent service and unbeatable location made our time here enjoyable, and we look forward to seeing the completed improvements on our next visit!"

"Although the hotel was nice and clean it left a few things that were less than pleasing. Upon arrival they didn’t have my reservation, fortunately I had a copy of my confirmation. They were apologetic for the confusion and got me a room promptly but I am not sure it was quite ready for me as there were small things like cups not in the room. I was there with a coworker for work, (which was night work in Port Alberni) for 3 nights (checking out on the Friday) and we asked the woman desk clerk if they offered a late check out as we had been arriving back to the hotel the previous nights between 4-5:30am. She gave us an attitude as she told us that they do not allow this when a simple “no, sorry we don’t offer that” would have been sufficient. One of the mornings when we arrived back later than previously we decided to go to the breakfast buffet just after it opened. By the time we arrived it had already been wiped clear. Obviously this was most likely a rarity but still a little bit of a let down. The room was nice and the fridge worked great as did the AC. The blackout blinds were a very welcome feature as I was working evenings and sleeping during the day"
