"Hotel needs an update. Staff were nice enough and all the bits you need were there but the customer experience was lacking. Our room was lovely, if cold. The radiators only work part of the time. The characterful bathroom did not have a big enough radiator - no lingering in the bath with just a tidgy towel rail to heat you ( a tall ceiling and giant window.) There was very little phone signal (not their fault of course), but the wifi was atrocious, barely there and dropping out regularly - tricky when you need to stay in touch with sick parents. We were pretty much above reception, no idea how the signal was elsewhere. In the evening there was one guy doing the bar and all drinks for the resturant, so very busy and therefore slow. I found it offputting that when people finished and left, their table wasn't cleared, so by the time we had finished eating i was admiring at least 4 tables covered in dining debris. The menu was pedestrian, nothing i could not have made myself or bought from waitrose. In the morning, again the food was fine. The continental breakfast bar could have done with a bin for the cereal packets, small plates for the danish and ramekins to put a portion of jam into - i ended up using a bowl to get marmalade for my toast. The toast was nice, but 2 tiny triangles of butter for two people eating toast was a bit mean. All in all it was fine, but i wouldn't bother using again."

"Good breakfast. Some of the soft furnishings in bedroom starting to look aged and a bit shabby. Cobweb on ceiling window and thick dust on curtain pelmet. One of the befs was broken on one side"

"Very basic room, was cold, simple breakfast, place needs some upgrades. Bed was comfortable, walls were pretty thin"

"Golf links was well equipped and very toasty,it was generally very clean but the oven racks and trays needed cleaning which did let it down,the other slightly annoying thing was one of the double beds was made up as a twin ….whereas on the description it says it’s a double unless asked to be made up as a twin as we were only there three nights we didn’t bother to ask someone to change it.two minor issues which wouldn’t stop us from booking again."

"A Lovely cottage with plenty of space. Very nice and clean, highly recommended. A little tricky to find in the dark so could possibly do with larger signage. "

"For a three bedroom (sleeps six) cottage this is great value. It's generally in satisfactory condition. OK, the garden and cottage could do with sprucing up a bit but it's a good place to stay. There is plenty of car parking space around the back, and a large village (Kelsall) two miles away"
