Built in 1815, historic Mason Hill Farm is a wondrous getaway in the heart of the Berkshires. Situated across eight acres, the original farmstead includes the central farmhouse, a renovated barn, animal stables, multiple cabins, and the blacksmithing studio. The barn features a fully equipped commercial kitchen with a 6 burner Viking stove and oven, a central kitchen island and wood block countertops. For accommodations, the barn features two private queen bedrooms with adjoining bathrooms, and an additional semi-private bedroom within the historic stables. The large living room is complete with a wood burning stove and includes laundry facilities. There are two adjoining decks perfect for casual outdoor dining and grilling as well as meditative reading whilst listening to the rushing sound of Kitchen Brook--the beautiful trout stocked brook on the property. Enjoy evenings with sausages and s’mores around the outdoor fire pit or yoga overlooking the creek. Perfect for memorable summer vacations, fall foliage, and winter skiing.

We planned to stay at this property in order to ski at Jiminy peak, and it was perfect, not a long drive at all. The barn stays very warm with the individual heaters as well as the wood stove in the middle of the main room. The kitchen was equipped with everything you need, they even had coffee and sugar! .. Communication with the hosts was seamless. We lost power due to a winter storm, the entire area did, and that wood stove worked its magic. The property owners made sure we were alright throughout the night. I would recommend this property without a doubt.
This meticulously renovated barn is beautiful, cozy, and fun to stay in! The beds and leather furniture are very comfy, towels fluffy and the overall property lovely. Enjoyed visiting the sheep (especially sweet Eloise!) and having freshly laid eggs from Mason Hill’s own hens for breakfast. The brook and waterfalls are soothing to see and hear and the cemetery next door provided a peaceful place to walk daily. The hosts, Jane and Ian, are friendly and helpful, yet totally unobtrusive. Would highly recommend!
We so enjoyed our stay in the barn. It was so comfortable and spacious - we ended up just hanging out more than we thought we would. There were many cute and thoughtful details - the lighting, decorations and, of course, a 1/2 dozen eggs from the farm. It's a quick drive to Mt. Greylock, North Adams, Mass MOCA and many restaurants. Couple things to know - there are no curtains on the windows so it's very bright, no TV and the bathrooms are located in each of the bedrooms. While this was not an issue for our family, it's just good to understand the layout. Would definitely recommend and hoping to get back there in the near future...
This old barn was renovated into a great place to stay. Jane and Ian paid careful attention to details, light, colors, materials. Very comfortable and relaxing. The setting is gorgeous, and the sheep are fun.
(FYI: It may be helpful to understand the layout and bathrooms: the new bathroom is at the far end of the smaller bedroom. This works great for a couple to have their own bathroom. The other bathroom is within the larger bedroom with the bunk bed, but in an area close to the door, such that it’s easy to share with someone sleeping out in the stall, without them coming through the room too much. You wouldn’t want to share it with a stranger, but we had no trouble with our.son using it while we were in the room.
Beautifully refurbished barn. Retains plenty of rustic charm while still being comfortable. Super easy 20 minutes to Jiminy Peak ski resort. Kitchen has everything you could need except a microwave. Bathrooms with showers are adequate but not places to linger or luxuriate. Bathroom in front of house was very dark throughout our stay - could benefit from enhanced lighting. Nice bookshelf to browse. Wireless was hit or miss but Verizon cellular signal was decent. The hosts have curated a very thoughtful “off the grid” spot for guests who want to experience rustic - but not too rustic - charm.
Lovely location and renovated barn accommodations. Those sleeping in the common area must go through a bedroom to access the bathrooms. Sound carries easily from the common room to the small bedroom with new bath as it is not a fully enclosed space. Care must be exercised in leaving the large bedroom as the doorway is short and you might hit your head (this happened several times). Be aware of a step down into the living area from the entrance door, is not marked. One bathroom is very narrow if you are tall(6ft or more), it is a little awkward to use the toilet. The shower is very nice, curbless, and has radiant floor heat.
No microwave but does have a toaster oven.
We had a lovely time at Mason Hill Farm, the house was exactly as pictured, plenty of space and lots of great local spots to explore. Highly recommend a stay here! We took our dogs on vacation and it was the perfect space and area for us!
This beautifully restored barn was very comfortable and in a cool location! Loved the proximity to the old cemetery! The sheep and chicken were a big bonus! Plenty of space to park, too! Would love to come back again!
It really is a barn and beautifully furnished with nice quality design and care. The third bedroom is pretty open to the living room but great for kids!
We loved this visit! Very cute house with plenty of space for our group. We loved being able to explore the creek and say hello to the animals. Would definitely recommend!
The Barn is clean and well appointed, nice for a short unique getaway.

It was more than I could have hoped for. Absolutely beautiful peaceful setting. Loved going to sleep listening to the waterfalls. Comfortable beds and wonderful spaces and outdoor deck. I wish I lived here.
My wife and I stayed here for the 2nd time the past weekend, and loved it every bit as the first. The house/barn is very cozy, we were looking for a relaxing weekend for the 2 of us away from our toddler (although the house can serve much more than just 2 people), the house has everything you need, we used the wood stove a good bit, and Jane is super responsive to any questions. While we didn't use the grounds as much as the first time due to the season, we look forward to coming back again and seeing the area more. Would recommend to anyone.
6 adults in our family and one 18 month old. Plenty of room for all of us. Adorable setting and outdoor space. We ate outside the 1st 2 nights after taking long local hikes. The kitchen table with benches is huge; so we all fit to eat and play card games. Besides the sheep out the window, my granddaughter saw a turkey walk by. A well stocked kitchen area made it easy for us to take turns preparing the food we brought. The kitchen sink and stove are much nicer than I have at home. 2 full bathrooms made it easy for us to get all our turns in quickly. The bed I slept in was very comfortable; we did not even need to use the bunch beds. Our hostess was very nice and did an adorable job on decorating the barn. My grown girls and I would all want it for our own house!

OK but not nearly as good a advertised
This barn was overall nice and true to its photographs, but had some disappointments. One significant misrepresentation is that it claims to have two full bathrooms, and it only had one. The other downsides were that there was no coffee-maker (a very simple and necessary add-on, particularly for a "fully-equipped, gourmet kitchen"), and there were no toiletries (should have mentioned that ahead of time). The house is very close to the owner's home, so the description of private acreage was not really accurate. FInally, the "trout stocked" brook was more like a small stream, and was not easy to access. Disappointment overall, particularly for the rates charged.

Our Stay in a Renovated Barn
It is, indeed, a "Renovated Barn"! The title does not deceive in any way. Generally speaking, most of the needs for a sojourn away from home can be found here. We found the kitchen to be, by far, our favorite place in the house. All one needs for at least a week's stay can be found there. Obviously, one must provide their own food and drink, but otherwise, the kitchen is well equipped. Bedroom (BR) privacy, well, there was only two of us so we did have a private bedroom. However, if there are more than two in your party, well, good luck, additional beds are scattered throughout the house with no walled off BRs as one would have at home. Lighting: only two small lamps worked which we had to move around the "Barn" for our use; no bed side lamps, or side tables for that matter, in the private BR; no working lamps in the Living Room, though there was overhead lighting, however, it was far from conducive to sitting in a chair to read. Internet is dependent upon the router in the house next door and we found that in order to log on, we had to move our lap tops as close to the wall facing the house next door so as to connect. The "Barn" needs it's own router. We brought our dog with us as in an email from the owners, we were told the property was completely fenced so our dog would have free roam. Not so. He found his way to the neighbors home across the street and she brought him back to us. The deck is well equipped and we enjoyed the wonderful Massachusetts weather while sitting out there. As you'll note in the info provided about the "Barn", there is neither a radio nor a TV provided. In many respects, the "Barn" and it's acreage provides a great vacation site. However, it needs a great deal of tweaking to make it a wonderful place to spend a vacation.
The property and carriage house were amazing! Loved the creek and walking the cemetery! Nice kitchen, firepit, and deck to hang out in the morning! Friendly and responsive host!
A charming property that was perfect for our family! Plenty of space for a family of 4 or more. Adorable launch pad for exploring the Berkshires. The rental had everything we needed and my kids loved visiting the sheep and chickens. Cannot recommend highly enough if you are visiting the area!
We stayed at Mason Hill Farm for a short family “girls getaway”. Communication with the owners was very easy and all questions were answered before the trip. Check in/out was simple. The barn is converted beautifully and is equipped with all you need. It’s obvious that much thought and care was put into the conversion and decoration. The semi-private sleeping spaces were not an issue for us, since we all wake early. However, if your going with a late sleeper, make sure they are put in the bedroom. The beds were firm, but comfortable. The barn had AC and was nice and cool when we arrived. The grounds were beautiful and we enjoyed the sheep and chickens. I personally enjoyed doing yoga on the back deck (two yoga mats are supplied in the house). However, the grounds were steeper than expected, making it a little challenging for my elderly mom. Getting to the brook in the back is very steep (only two of us ventured down there). My only disappointment was, I thought the barn was more set back and further away from the street and the owners. Not a big deal, but traffic noice and close proximity to neighbors was not what I wanted. The area is very nice and with just a little car travel, many nice things to do. We drove to the top of Mt. Greystone and loved the view. I highly recommend this place for all types of travelers.
