The town itself is a bit humdrum. However, Durham is nearby and it’s absolutely beautiful. We loved visiting the Cathedral and walking around the town

A very enjoyable visit
"This was our 3rd visit to Lumley Castle & it was just as great as previous ones. We wanted a relaxing break & it was exactly that. The staff were excellent & nothing was too much trouble. I do have one suggestion however regarding the bar menu. The library bar is a nice alternative to the restaurant ..."
