"The villa was absolutely incredible and perfect for our 6 night stay in Vallandry. It is well appointed with high quality furniture, beds, bath towels, robes, kitchen equipment etc. It was clear that attention was paid to every detail. The jacuzzi and dry sauna were wonderful to relax in after ours days of sightseeing and hikes. The hosts were wonderful, kind and generous. We can’t recommend it highly enough. 5 stars!"

Fontevraud L'Ermitage

10/10 Excellent

"If you love hotels with history, this is the place for you. Once a monastery, then a prison, and now the resting place of Richard the Lionheart, staying here feels like being immersed in centuries of French history. The setting within the former Fontevraud Abbey is truly unique and gives the hotel an atmosphere that is difficult to find elsewhere. Just outside the hotel grounds is the picturesque village of Fontevraud-l'Abbaye, with restaurants, bars and a traditional boulangerie. One of my favourite memories was heading out for my early morning runs before the day had begun and smelling fresh bread and pastries coming from the boulangerie. It was one of those simple, wonderfully French moments that really added to the experience. The hotel also makes a great base for exploring the Loire Valley, with its châteaux, vineyards and beautiful countryside all within easy reach. After a day of exploring, returning to the peaceful surroundings of the abbey was a real pleasure. For a special occasion, I’d definitely recommend treating yourself to dinner at the hotel’s restaurant. It was the perfect way to round off our stay and made the whole experience even more memorable. Overall, this is much more than simply a place to stay. The combination of history, character, location and atmosphere makes Fontevraud L’Ermitage a genuinely memorable hotel experience."

"We recently stayed at Les Terrasses de Saumur Hotel & Spa and could not have asked for a more brilliant experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff went completely above and beyond, they were so genuinely lovely, warm, and attentive throughout our entire stay. The hotel itself was impeccably clean and tidy, with every detail well looked after. One of our favourite highlights was the fantastic pool area, which provided the ultimate spot to cool down and unwind. While we didn't get a chance to use the spa area during this trip, it looks wonderful, and our biggest regret is not booking a longer stay to enjoy it, we will definitely make time for it next time! We had a three-course dinner on both nights of our stay, as well as breakfast on the morning, and every single meal was gorgeous. Everything was incredibly tasty, the choice on offer was extensive, and the coffee at breakfast was top-tier. If you are looking for a peaceful, high-quality getaway in Saumur with unbelievable food and world-class service, this is the place to be. Absolutely brilliant in every way, we cannot wait to return for a longer stay!"
