Ranch House in the Elkhorn Mountains

The renovated Ranch House is perfect as the gathering place for a romantic retreat, or home base while watching wildlife and exploring the Elkhorns. It is part of a 900 acre working cattle ranch that borders National Forest. We are about 25 minutes outside of Helena, Montana, so we are close to town, but secluded in the mountains. There is access to hiking and biking trails minutes away.

The house has 2 bedrooms with double beds and a fold out sofa bed. It has a fully functioning kitchen and a smaller bathroom. There is also a covered porch to take in the mountain views and a fire pit to enjoy the stars of the Big Sky during the evening. Often during the summer, a herd of elk grazes in the hay field right out the back door.

This 100 year old home has been updated and added to slowly throughout the years and has a lot of history to tell. It is great for people with a sense of adventure and don't mind the classics. Although the house is very clean, some wear and tear from being lived and worked in are inevitable. Come and enjoy real Montana ranch living in a mountain oasis.

The ranch house is also the perfect halfway point for travelers visiting Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks looking to keep an authentic Montana feel.

Beautiful Property!

Our five days at the Ranch House were amazing! Such a beautiful and peaceful spot spot that provided us with many memories (especially spending time with Crystal the horse). Our dogs loved hiking the nearby trails and the closeness to town and other activities made this a special place for our vacation.

Lovely Stay

Great Hidden Getaway

We had a great weekend...it's very remote but close enough to town to enjoy other activities. Its an old farmhouse with lots of charm and gets cozy with the wood stove. We'll be back again.

Breathtaking

The ranch house was beautiful and felt like home the moment we stepped through the door. Everything we needed was there and we were very comfortable. The trails were wonderful and we made friends with many cows we will definitely be back again soon !

1917 Ranch House

The ranch house is located approximately 5 miles off the main highway. We loved the location!!! It's been very dry in the area so our car was covered in dust and dirt every day. Washing you vehicle daily is a must, especially if you want to see out your back window. There were horses and cows everywhere. We were kinda bummed we had to leave before the cattle branding and vaccinations.It was a wonderful place for our trip from Florida to East Helena.

Hideaway in the Country

This place is a quaint old farm house well out in the country. The day we went there it had rained but the dirt roads were still passable. The road that cuts off Highway 12 from Helena is the best of two choices. It is more open and has fewer dips and turns. The beds were comfortable and there was a lovely old piano which I enjoyed playing. Great getaway place with country vibe.

Amazing location and views!

Patti and Toms little farmhouse was awwsome. There is so much history there and it was like taking a step back in time. Everything was clean and Patti was very responsive. The views from the yard were wonderful and the dogs enjoyed playing Frisbee there in the evenings. There is no AC at the house but it stayed cool and comfortable even during the hot parts of the day. We saw deer, pronghorn antelope, elk, a badger and lots of chipmunks! We hope to be back soon!

Beautiful Country

The old farm house is located about seven miles out in the mountains. The sunrises and sunsets were beautiful. Nice quiet area. Our dog loved running around the yard. Ee had a great time.

We were yearning for fresh air and being in true nature and this place delivers! We didn’t realize it was up a mountain road wh in my cheap economy rental car was a little harry on a rainy and foggy afternoon, but once we arrived and saw the high meadows and mountain ranges we were so happy. The house is cozy and comfortable. The yard was fenced so our pup could roam. Patti and Tom, our hosts were wonderful, very communicative and accommodating. I wish we could have stayed longer. We hope to come back some day. Oh and I saw a western tanager-just hanging out with the swallows.

Fiest time using VRBO.Even though we are not your typical guests, we appreciate the space and quiet and relaxation in-between the craziness of sports practices and games.Not too far away from anything but far enough away from everything! We loved the atmosphere of the property and how beautiful, scerene, and quiet the landscape was. Our kids got to enjoy seeing both farm and wild animals. The home was unique because of it's age and it was fun to stay in an original homestead. You can see the love and care that has been given to preserve this beautiful old home.
