Causeway Cottage: Lake Beach & NY Biking Ferry
Year-round cottage on Lake Champlain, on Mills Point, located at the entrance to The Colchester Causeway and Colchester/Burlington bike path. Bike, walk or cross country ski around the beautiful shores of Lake Champlain. It is located in a quiet community just a block off the lake and is a 10-minute drive to downtown Burlington and area colleges. NEW UPDATES in 2022: New Vanity in Bathroom, AND screens on all Windows! Basement sealed to fix musty odor when it rains.
This cozy cottage has an updated fully equipped kitchen and radiant floor heating in the living room. The Master bedroom has a new comfortable king bed and walk-in closet. The second bedroom has a brand new queen bed and the sunroom has a twin bed.
Large outdoor deck with Adirondack chairs and firepit to relax after a busy day of hiking, biking fishing, or boating in Mallets Bay.
For winter renters, the ski areas are between 40 minutes and 1 hour and 30 minutes away. The most easily accessed areas are Bolton Valley (40 min), Stowe(1:20), and Sugarbush (1:20). Smuggler’s and Jay Pike are also easy 1 to 1:30 drive. Note: The home has a window AC unit that helps keep the whole house cool, but it's not central air and not in every bedroom. It makes hot days comfortable, though it won't get as cold as central AC.

We absolutely loved our stay. The property was very clean and the perfect location. The views were amazing. Very spacious and comfortable. We will definitely stay again
Cute, cozy & clean - this house was great for a wknd getaway near the Burlington area. Great location near the lake & close to the city life too. And the fireplace is great in the winter months - we would definitely stay here again!
Totally exceeded expectations and was exactly what we needed and more, We wanted water views, outdoor space, comfortable beds, cozy bright and relaxing environment, great kitchen for home cook meals and outdoor grilling. Great place to enjoy the company of friends and family. Will definitely stay again and again!
We enjoyed the close proximity to the bike trails and the lake. The property was clean and offered all that we needed for a weekend stay. The kitchen was well-equipped, and there were grocery stores not far away. We appreciated the easy access to Burlington, but we were happy to come back to the quiet cabin in the evening.
Clean, organized with plenty of supplies needed provided..super comfy beds, close to a beautiful walk on the causeway..conveniently close to Marketplace and other attractions. The area around the property is quie, and the neighbors are friendly.
Great location being close walking distance to the causeway! Well stocked kitchen and toiletries, with everything you need.
The place was clean, not super clean (there was still trash in the can and a strong smell of moth balls and insecticide). It was okay from a clean perspective upon arrival, could have been better.

The house is spacious, but without central air which was uncomfortable in one bedroom. It a lovely area with a patio and view of the water. Unfortunately, the code given to us was incorrect but we called and it all worked out.

Solid Choice
This cottage is extremely comfortable. We stayed here to celebrate Christmas with family and to cook Christmas dinner. The kitchen is well-stocked. My only negative in the kitchen is that there are newer stainless steel appliances - stove, microwave, and refrigerator - but there is a 1980's decrepit old formerly white dishwasher and that does not make sense to me.
Bedrooms/beds are great, living room area is awesome, and we enjoyed our stay. The only other negative is that there is a strong mothball odor throughout the house, but mainly in the kitchen area. We saw another review that mentioned this, and SkyRun wrote that they "fixed" it, but the situation is still the same. While we understand that wildlife can get into homes near a lake, there has got to be another solution that isn't the noxious odor of mothballs. Additionally, this odor exacerbates medical problems in anyone with respiratory issues. One member of our party has bad asthma and the mothball smell was not helpful. We would love to enjoy this property in summer weather, and if the mothball situation can be solved, we will look into renting here again. One more comment - SkyRun is responsive and checks in periodically to ensure that the stay is going smoothly, which is great.
Cabin was terrific, we felt very comfortable. Kitchen was well appointed. Appreciated being able to see the outdoors from any angle. Deck was really great, spacious. Not sure how much use I would get out if it during mosquito/black fly season
We stayed over Thanksgiving to visit our son at College in Burlington.
We all walked the Causeway, the neighborhood is very peaceful and relaxing
Beds were comfortable.
We would stay here again
We did a lot of hiking, visited church street, ate at good restaurants. Everything nearby. Nice to come back to this simple little home and relax out on deck overlooking the Lake.
All good, although they failed to shovel snow and ice off the front walk and rear deck. Issue with the coffee pot but they corrected quickly so we didn’t miss our morning cups. Everything was clean, neat, tidy and comfortable.
I would stay again on my next visit without hesitation.
The cottage was very conveniently located for our weekend - near the lake, but also an easy drive to Burlington and Shelburne. There was plenty of room for our family of 4. The surroundings are shady, so there is some dampness (marsh nearby). The deck and outdoor grill were great to use. The causeway was very close and was a nice place to walk or bike and view birds out in the marsh. We had a little issue with getting the door code when we first arrived, but called and got it sorted (the check-in email sent a code that didn't work). We also were somewhat confused as to whether we could access the water from Marsh lane because it appears to go through someone else's yard, but I apparently didn't read close enough on the check-in email (it does list water access places). I think the kids would have enjoyed it more if they could just go splash around and check out the shore without feeling like they were on the neighbor's beach. We used a public beach down the road instead.
We enjoyed our stay, house was all what listed, very comfortable, spacious, bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed the fire place with view of the water & comfortable hosting family with meals and visits for the holidays. Management was very responsive, helpful & timely in resolving unforeseen problems. We would stay here again on future visits.

Great Location for Biking
Had a few days during the week for a quick trip to Vermont. We stayed in this clean comfortable cottage about 400 yards from the lake and about 1/8 of a mile from the Colchester bike path and the Causeway that takes you over the lake to The Champlain Islands. The house is well equipped, wonderful deck to enjoy and very comfortable beds.

LOCATION!
The cottage is large, comfortable, and kitchen is well stocked. The location is great get to Burlington in less than 15 minutes or just enjoy breathtaking VT views on the causeway.
Location and cleanliness are the positive points. But this place needs lots of attention. First the main entrance door handle was so loose I had to find a screwdriver and tighten. The trim around the floors and bathroom are poor or non existent. No closet doors in bedrooms. No mirror in one bedroom. Oddly chosen interior decor. Very small pictures. Exposed nails and screws where pictures were once hung?? Kitchen faucet was extremely loose as well. For the price of this place it desperately needs a little attention especially to all the small things. And we were there first week of April. You would assume the winter months are when these types of repairs should be done.
