Originating with the Placerville Parlor of Native Sons, the idea of a monument was suggested to the State Legislature, which appropriated a total of $9,000. On May 3, 1890, a crowd of 3,500 gathered at his hill-top grave site for the unveiling ceremony, listening to poems, prayers, band music, and speeches praising Marshall and the forty-niners.

Was much more than I expected. Very clean. Loved all the drawers for my clothes and the drawer in the washroom. The breakfast was simple but very good. No the usual continental breakfast. Will definitely use again.

Very quaint and cute inn, very well located. The staff was friendly and helpful and the cleanliness of the room was top-notch. The only downside to this place is that the halls are loud, there's no sleeping in here.
