Nestled in the heart of the Colorado wilderness, just beneath the shadow of majestic Pikes Peak, our cozy 624-square-foot cabin is a peaceful mountain retreat waiting to be discovered. Surrounded by towering aspen trees and fragrant ponderosa pines—whose sweet scent of vanilla and butterscotch lingers in the fresh alpine air—this is the perfect place to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with nature. Step out onto the spacious deck and let the gentle whisper of the wind through the trees lull you into serenity. Sip your morning coffee or watch the stars emerge in the vast mountain sky—every moment here is a peaceful escape from the rush of daily life.
Some Ideas of What to Do:
Adventure is just minutes away. Hike the nearby trailhead to the summit of Pikes Peak, the iconic mountain that inspired “America the Beautiful,” or take a scenic 15-minute drive to historic Cripple Creek, where you can explore casinos, learn about Colorado's gold rush past, and soak in the spirit of the Old West. For a more natural wonder, Florissant Fossil Beds National Monument is just a short drive away, offering a glimpse into prehistoric life through ancient fossils and stunning landscapes.
Inside the cabin, you’ll find everything you need to make yourself at home. The kitchen is fully equipped for cooking—from pans to plates to a selection of spices to get you started. With one bathroom, two king beds (one in the main cabin and one in the charming detached guest room that is included), and a warm, welcoming atmosphere, this is more than just a place to stay—it’s a space lovingly cared for by our family, and we’re excited to share it with you.
Whether you’re looking for outdoor adventure, a quiet writer’s retreat, or simply a chance to unwind among the pines, our mountain cabin offers it all. Welcome to your peaceful hideaway in the Rockies.
Notes that our friends have told us, it would be nice to know:
1. Detached Guest Room is included with your stay.
2. Gravel county road to the cabin and steep driveway. In the winter, bring a 4x4 vehicle. In the summer, a car should be able to make it up the driveway.
3. We are smack dab in between Divide and Cripple Creek. It's about an equal distance to either. Cripple Creek for the casinos and mining, and Divide for the cute coffee shop and shops. They are both about a 10-15 minute drive.
4. There are grocery stores and gas stations in both towns of Divide and Cripple Creek.
5. We are about 3-5 minutes away from the trailhead for the Pikes Peak summit hiking trail. Leave early to get a parking spot! Crags is also a good hike that isn't as strenuous as doing a 14'er and is one of my personal favorites. It is at the same trailhead as Pikes Peak. Horsetheif Trailhead is also super close.
6. In the winter, the closest skiing is Monarch, Copper, Cooper, and Breckenridge (in that order). We are partial to Monarch, but the others are nice too!
7. There is a small step up from the ground to the deck and getting over the threshold of the front door. My brother's wheelchair would need one of us to help him up the little step from the ground to the deck and into the cabin. Going out to the detached guest room is a larger step up and would be difficult with a wheelchair.
8. Pets are welcome as long as you bring a crate to leave them in when you are gone. Please clean up your doggy poo!
9. No covered parking.
10. Please take all food inside from your vehicle and leave nothing outside. We have a local bear that comes every night, and he is smart enough that he knows how to get into people's cars, trash, and other sorts of containers. Note: Willful feeding of the wildlife and bears is a punishable offense in the State of Colorado. We take it very seriously that we do not feed them or entice them to keep coming back. We want to see them in the wild, not dependent on humans for food.
Note: We have security cameras on the outside of the cabin in all directions, recording video and audio. There are no cameras inside the cabin.
Note: The cabin is on a limited cistern (a small underground water tank). There is a finite amount of water available, and we would appreciate your being conscious of your water usage. You may see a truck come by to fill it up.
