"We stayed at El Tigre Hideaway for four nights in July and had a truly unique and memorable experience. The villa itself is beautiful and thoughtfully equipped with everything you might need, including extra blankets, robes and slippers, a fully stocked kitchen, and plenty of toiletries and supplies. The staff was also incredibly responsive and helpful throughout our stay.
The nearby hikes were absolutely amazing and were some of the highlights of our trip. If you're looking for an authentic rainforest experience, this is it!
There are a few things future guests should know. We visited in July and it rained almost nonstop during our stay, so unfortunately we weren't able to enjoy the outdoor patios or swing areas. We hiked in the rain, which was part of the adventure, but the humidity made it difficult for clothes to dry, even inside the villa. A small washer and dryer would be a wonderful addition for guests returning from muddy hikes.
Also, if you are uncomfortable with bugs, be prepared. Even with doors and windows closed, some insects still found their way inside. They were fascinating and unlike anything we had ever seen, but there were quite a few of them.
As advertised, you cannot drive directly to the villa and must use their transportation service. The drivers were prompt most of the time, but the road is steep, rocky, unpaved, and quite bumpy!
No maid service and the closest restaurant for dinner is 30 minutes away.
A peaceful, remote rainforest retreat"
