More detailed information about the space: We have been renting our other vacation rental, Glacier Countryside Escape, for a decade, and in 2020, we added this second property - Glacier Countryside Retreat. We have over a 12 year history of 5 star reviews on our properties to ensure that you have a great Montana vacation. We purchased this land and the home on it in 2010, and since we were both school teachers at the time, we decided that over our summer break it would make a great vacation rental for visitors to Glacier National Park. We soon discovered that we loved sharing our home with our guests. We pride ourselves on creating the perfect place to stay – clean and with all the amenities a guest would hope for. We began amassing 5 star reviews and a full calendar. Soon, we decided to build a second building on the 2 acre lot so that we could share our home with more guests. With the help of family and friends and over the course of five years we completed our dream – Glacier Countryside Retreat. The two-story guest house sits in the back half of a Barn/Garage. There are lean-tos on the side, giving it the quaint barn-look. The guest house has a large deck off of the back, access to a back yard, and covered parking in one of the lean-to’s. Soon after completing this guest house, we were surprised with the arrival of our first child. Having already rented out our home for the summer, we moved into Glacier Countryside Retreat and lived there for the next two and a half years. It was such a blessing to have had this home during our time of transition to parenthood. Now, we are back in our main home during the school year and back to camping and living with family in the summer. So, we are excited to finally get to share Glacier Countryside Retreat with you, our guests.
Since we have personally lived in this home for a time, I would like to share with you what I think are the Pros and Cons of Glacier Countryside Retreat so you can be sure it is the best choice for your vacation to the Glacier Park Area. Pros: • Excellent Location – in the country yet close to all of the major towns in the area as well as Glacier National Park • Great views – especially from the upstairs bedrooms. • It is charming and cute, with tongue and groove ceilings and post and beam construction. • It is bright and spacious with a great kitchen and big bedrooms Cons: • Because of the post and beam style construction, the ceiling downstairs is the floor of the upstairs. There is carpet in the bedrooms, but otherwise there is not as much of a sound buffer between floors as there is in traditional construction. Since we had a napping baby while we lived here, we learned that you had to be quiet downstairs while the baby was sleeping upstairs. • The road next to the house on the East side services a small subdivision, but also is access to a construction/gravel pit. Sometimes during the summer, there can be a lot of trucks driving by along that road. We found it to be a bit noisy when we wanted to sleep in, so we kept ear plugs handy. We will provide some for you in case they are driving by during your stay.
We think our home would make a great spot to launch your Montana Vacation. We look forward to hearing from you. We’d love to email you and would love to answer any questions you may have.

This was a great location for outside of glacier. Property was clean and comfortable. Beds and linens were comfortable. The covered parking was a plus as it was raining when we arrived. The deck seating was great also. Nice stay!
We had a wonderful stay! Well stocked kitchen and the back deck was a great place to have a morning cup of coffee. The location was also great for us. Would recommend!
Our stay was wonderful and we would stay here again! It had everything we needed and was close to restaurants, shopping, the airport and Glacier National Park West Gate. We can’t wait to come back in the future…
We loved this house very much! Very clean, comfortable beds and everything you need for your stay. We loved the location. Very close to Whitefish and Glacier Park. Sarah has many recommendations for things to do in the area. Would definitely stay here again!
We stayed at this house for 9 nights. This house was perfect for us, plenty of space for our family. We loved the views, the cleanliness and cozy feeling this home offered. Well decorated and we appreciated the amenities, it had everything we needed. We hope to return again soon!
Lodging was clean, well stocked with food condiments and kitchen needs, ez access to GNP and other fun destinations in the area
We would definitely return.
Talking with Ryan when he came to cut the lawn was a good last time too.
Perfect peaceful spot between Whitefish and Columbia Falls, short distance to GNP
What a great place to stay for our family of four. This home had everything we needed for our family and it felt like our home away from home. The owners had everything nicely organized and you can tell they thoughtfully prepare the house for their guests. We had no issues with our stay which made our vacation that much better. Would definitely stay again!
Comfortable home conveniently located near Glacier National Park
My family of four enjoyed a lovely 2 night stay at this charming and thoughtfully appointed rental property located near the West Glacier entrance. We appreciated the thorough and detailed communication from the hosts. It was the perfect place to land after full and glorious days exploring Glacier National Park.
The description by the owner was spot on. This house was the perfect launching and landing point for our visit to Glacier NP. It had everything we needed. It was very clean, beds were comfy, and we had space to move about. The only complaint was the shower head, but we let the owners know and they have replaced it. The Glacier entrance was a short drive. Stores are conveniently located nearby for groceries. We highly recommend this property!
Simply outstanding…in all regards. The Vrbo scheduling process was confidence-building. Hosts we’re available and in touch via email, TM, and phone calls. Our residence was exceptional. Attention to practical internal details was thorough, intuitive and practical. Location was unbeatable and very supportive of day trips to GNP (and weary physical returns!)
I booked this Vrbo for my dad and my husband's parents for our elopement/wedding, and they loved it! Despite being a guest house on the owners property, they did not see them and felt it was very private. Very conveniently located to the airport, Kalispell, Whitefish, Columbia Falls and the west entrance of the park. We had a few very yummy meals while we were there at Josephine's Speakeasy, Ciao Mambo's, Jagz, and a Mexican restaurant in Columbia Falls. We did a boat tour at Lake McDonald one day and all loved our hikes at Avalanche Lake, and the view from the Hidden Lake overlook. We would definitely recommend this to anyone coming to Glacier.
I would highly recommend this rental home. And if we ever visit the area again, would rent from Ryan & Sarah. The only improvement I can think of is putting TV’s in the bedrooms. Everything was top-notch. Very clean. & spacious. Very comfortable beds & furnishings. Well-stocked kitchen, toiletries, & area info. (Glacier). Our friends (husband & wife) stayed in the smaller bedroom and really liked the ease of the cubbies in their bedroom closet. We cooked a tasty salmon dinner on the gas grill one night. Our visit to Glacier was even more enjoyable because our accommodations were exemplary! THANK YOU!
We visited July 25-31 and had a wonderful time! Sarah was so easy to communicate with during the booking/payment process. We were a family of 3 Adults and a 14 month old. There was a pack and play and booster seat and toys and books which was so nice to have. The pack and play actually fit in one of the walk in closets! As soon as we walked in we knew we had made a great choice- the house is charming and very welcoming. Wonderful well equipped kitchen, large center island…really everything you would need. The beds were very comfy and the bedrooms were spacious , both with walk in closets. Bathrooms were updated and lots of towels provided. Having a laundry room was so handy. There’s a great deck to sit outside with coffee or eat at the generous size table ( there’s also a grill). Covered parking was a nice plus! All in all we loved everything about our stay. There is a great notebook that has any information you could want about the house itself, nearby restaurants etc. Attention to detail throughout made this a very special place. It’s clear that this is a very well man tainted and cared for house. Location was great for going to Glacier. Lots of stores and restaurants nearby. We really enjoyed going to Whitefish for dinner twice. Thanks for a wonderful vacation!
Lovely home with everything you need, including bear spray. Great access to GNP. Neighbor’s chickens visited the yard which was adorable! We did hear the gravel trucks in the morning on weekdays but since we were up early most days, it was not an issue.
My mom, two friends and I stayed here two weeknights to work before camping the weekend and it was absolutely perfect. Seamless check-in, clean, spacious, and beautiful views. It was quiet, a good neighborhood, and private but also close to town and the park. Highly, highly recommend this stay.
We had a great trip and stay at this property. The host were so helpful and went out of their way to bring us a wrench when we needed one. The property was perfect and if I could rate higher than a 5, I would.
Fantastic property,Great location, Beautiful Home. Everything as described. If your a cook like my friend I am traveling with the kitchen is well stocked with everything you need. Thank you Sarah and Ryan.
Sarah and Ryan put effort into this home and it shows. The house was SO clean, the decor is so cute, and each room had an AC unit. Our 3 year old twins had a hay day in the second bedroom as the closet was stocked with toys and books. The views are absolutely beautiful, we had never been to Montana before and we were just in awe. Super close to Kalispell, whitefish, and the west glacier entrance. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you!
We stayed here while visiting Glacier, just a 20 minute or so drive away. This home is spacious and even though it was just my husband and me, it would be great for a family especially with the large back deck and back yard. This home is new and decorated cute as can be. King size bed was comfy and huge! It was so relaxing to come here and relax at the end of a busy crowded day at the park. Great sunsets from the back porch and if you leave early enough in the morning, great sunrises on the way to the park! We would definitely stay here again!
