Romantic cottage on a farm with a view of Cortona

This house is called “Rondinella” because swallows used to live there before it was restored. It is completely independent and is located within an agriturismo—an old village nestled in the rolling Tuscan countryside with a stunning view of Cortona, surrounded by olive trees, and near the pool. The house has an outdoor veranda with a small table and chairs where you can eat and enjoy the view of the valley and the sunset over Cortona. Every detail has been carefully attended to so that you feel pampered. It consists of a master bedroom, furnished with antique and hand-decorated pieces; the double bed is made up with white, fragrant linens; and the bathroom with a shower is equipped with soft towels and complimentary toiletries. The living room, featuring a fireplace and a kitchenette, is equipped with a microwave, electric oven, dishwasher, refrigerator with freezer, and all the necessary cookware for cooking, as well as our organic olive oil, coffee, and tea.
Outside, there are comfortable lounge chairs where you can read a good book, or a ping-pong table for a game. For those who prefer to enjoy a delicious breakfast prepared by us in the morning, upon prior notice, it will be served in our small dedicated dining room, featuring a selection of local and farm-fresh sweet and savory items for €10 per person.
The agriturismo is located in the hills, completely surrounded by greenery, yet easily accessible. In the garden, available to guests, is a pool situated at the most scenic spot—it almost feels like you’re flying over Cortona, the Val di Chiana, and all the way to Lake Trasimeno. Right in the pool area, there’s a terrace with a large barbecue, a table, and chairs for those who want to eat while enjoying the view—perhaps sipping a glass of fine Tuscan wine. For those who love animals and want to interact with them, our donkeys will be happy to welcome you—always ready to give and receive affection from guests of all ages. We, the owners, live on the property; we respect our guests’ privacy but are available, upon request, to provide information on places to visit, where to eat, and everything related to our local area. For those who love to hike, the farmhouse is the perfect starting point for numerous hikes. Trails lead from here to the Etruscan Archaeological Park, home to a beautiful and unique altar, or to the picturesque hermitage nestled in the woods called Celle di San Francesco, and along ancient Roman trails to Cortona.
We, the owners, are certified nature guides and are happy to organize various excursions not only in the Cortona area but also in the beautiful nearby nature reserves, the Casentino Forests National Park, and neighboring Umbria—including Lake Trasimeno, Gubbio, Assisi, the Sibillini Mountains, and much more.
For art lovers, there are truly many options here, starting with Cortona, which is home to two beautiful museums—the MAEC and the Diocesano—where you’ll find important Etruscan archaeological artifacts and paintings by Beato Angelico and Signorelli, to name just a few; the list goes on. From the agriturismo, you can easily reach numerous world-famous destinations, including the Siena area, the Val d’Orcia with Pienza and Montepulciano, Umbria with Assisi, Perugia, and Gubbio, and Arezzo, home to Piero della Francesca. Some cities, such as Florence, are easily accessible by train; the station is just a few minutes away.
Our property is very environmentally conscious; in addition to sorting waste, most of our organic waste is fed to our donkeys and chickens.
