"Likes The staff were lovely. They were very accommodating and provided all the requests made. The breakfast was very tasty, and my partner was recommending it to our friends (which is a big thing). The room size was good. It's spacious (however, the shower room was a little snug). The room looked exactly like the photos, so that is a plus. We had dinner at the pub with our friends, everyone enjoyed their meal and I really liked the live band. We were singing the songs. Not so great There was no air conditioning (we stayed during a heatwave), which was very concerning for me. I would like to add that the staff provided me a fan, which I really appreciated The room was tidy. But I am a neat feak, so seeing spiderwebs wasn't ideal. Overall, I would recommend the place. I really liked the water feature near the car park. "

"it was easy to find. nice , clean hotel. lovely location not to far to the pubs shops. would definitely stay here again . only thing i would book on the ground floor as its to many stairs for me abd my sister . "

"For the price this place is excellent. You are paying the price of a hostel but you have your own room, a decent bathroom and tea making facilities. The hotel has seen better days, and if you want something swanky pay another £100 per night. Staff were helpful, room was clean, and location is spot on. "

"I have not stayed here for years and was surprised to see that its still a Brend Hotel ( family hotel). I went for breakfast and it was a traditional waiter service breakfast eg you are shown to a table, another waiter takes your order, you choose the items you want and its freshly cooked ( no food sitting under a heated light)"

"I found The Royal & Fortescue to be a lovely comfortable place to stay in the centre of Barnstaple very close to all amenities including the bus station which was so handy for getting to other near by attractions. The hotel is very clean and welcoming. We had a really nice relaxing stay and if in Barnstaple again would be more than happy to stay again."
